Hi all,

Since pinpointing the problem with my faulty Pulsar card and sent it off for repair, I have been able to make music again( I have another 2 cards installed in my machine).
However, a basic question. it is suggested that you install ASPI. I haven't and everything is going smoothly. Is it necessary?

Thanks in advance for your response(s).

i suppose you mean ACPI right?
well this have been discussed on and off for quite some time...
when i got my computer xp pro was installed in ACPI mode and worked flawlessly. when i reinstalled windows i chose ACPI and once again ity worked perfectly. when i reinstalled again, in june i think, i got some REALLY strange audio behaviour from my computer. snaps, crackles, pops and so on.
i reinstalled windows, in standard pc mode this time et viola, worked perfectly...

so to make a long answer short:
i have no idea

Hi,

No I mean ASPI. If you go to the Creamware site you will see what I mean http://www.creamware.de/en/download/sof ... 31c_pc.asp
It's an Adaptec thing.

All i know is...i had some problem when using some formats of samples..like AKAI S1000 - S3000 and various others. And someone told me to check what ASPI driver i had installed. Well i found the link you've put in you post above this one and that fixed my problem. Im sampling like mad now.

Install it.
I don't se what you have to loose from it.

But im shure there are other FireBreathing Pulsar demons out there that can answer you questions better

asapi is an older layer for ASPI mostly installed by Steinberg software. But it could cause other burning software from operating correctly.

What also counts is the right ASPI for the your Windows.

Windows 95/8/ME/NT4

Windows 2000/XP
