Hello fellow Pulsarians. I just wanted to let you know that the XTC Soft Release 3.01 final is out.

Note: Not for Pulsar users or at least for those who have a Pulsar and an XTC running together is now possible.

Regards

Yes, eMagic needs to release a new version of Logic to fix it, too. I can't wait for 5.0!

Yep, Logic 4.7.2 is out now, but the list of improvements/bugfixes says nothing about Creamware or XTC

lap 4.7.2 does mention improvement for "various" vst dsp devices(xtc qualifies i believe) as to a latency workaround.i would wait for 5.0 as it is due in sept. and i have found 4.7.2 to be less stable than 4.7 . lap 4.7.2 IS still usable however.......

That is a very good idea, according to Emagic, the fix should arrive in august, check http://www.emagic.de/english/news/index.html(go to june 7th. 2001) for further details.

Cheers

what I want to point out is that I won´t like to change my sequencer... If the developments on the pc platform will go on like that...I´ll use any of the new korg all in one solutions (which are using a specialised beos) and keep my computer only for the office stuff...I´m very tired of the common pc problems.

well, the only reason toupgrade is for better features/workability.otherwise, my current system is more functional and powerful than any all-in-one device, dollar for dollar.it's either fall for the marketing promises and buy a new car; or keep driving the one that always gets you were you're going and that is ugly and outdated.at least this pc crap can be updated in steps.(you know technological devices must always be reworked and improved to fix what was never known to be desired before the device begged the question. it's part of living in a demon-acracy or that's what they tell the little kids in the u.s.a.)i don't get the stress. if set up properly, pulsar works as well as ten times the money(no, MORE with the price of analogue synths these days)i want to upgrade because more is nice sometimes.the hardware is a hassle, but it's easy compared to making truly great music!

Any1 tested it with VST5 ?

I would love to be a pulsarian (XTC at this time). In fact i was about to buy it this afternoon. But the salesman warn me for the latency prob : told me 1)he made some tests with various soundcard & couldn't achieve a better latency than 20 ms; 2) new finalized driver should come out maybe at the end of July.

Now in the 3.01 readme file CW says this : " Steinberg has already announced that a solution to the XTC instruments latency problem will be available as a patch to Cubase/Nuendo in the very near future (within the next few weeks)."
Didn't saw anything about it on steinberg update page

Any infos r welcome, i'm confused there : the salesman told me it was a CW driver prob & now it seems cubase needs a patch to fit in this latency prob.

Cheers all

The latency isn't a huge deal, as you can compensate for it in the sequencer just as with any VST plugin...

That's true for playback of your mix

But when your in the composing "process" of a tune with the use of so attracive synthesizers/instruments of pulsar, there u need realtime (10 ms max).

& what 'bout the readme file from CW for the 3.01 update ? did steinberg made a patch ?

Sorry, but i'm still confused there.

even then you can play the xtc instruments in 'direct mode', if you buy an xtc with i/o-board, which might be still cheaper than a pulsar2. you also need no additional soundcard then for your monitornig and recording.

thanks MO

As i already own a Gina20 soundcard, 'd like to avoid to have to pay for something i don't need (even if the Direct mode will get rid of the latency prob).
A bit expensive, as some patch is supposed to do the same for others soundcards (that's what is said in the readme file of the 3.01 software for XTC).
So wait & see & hope it will be done shortly
