It seems like a part of my XP core, the windows management instrumentation is not running right. Not much of a problem, as far as my audio programs are concerned. I'm just wondering if there's a way to re-install this specific component, or do some sort of "repair" install, which may or may not work. I don't want to end up with a clean install of XP. Atleast not at this moment.
Any suggestions?

Also, when I try to start the WMI service, it tells me that some of its dependant services, or groups cannot be run. So, I set all services to "auto", and it still doesn't run. Anyhow, things don't look right.

From looking at my machine the two dependent services are Event Log and Remote Procedure Call.

Were both of these running after a reboot? I know RPC impacts a ton of other services as well.

Check your Event Log for errors, as it might indicate where a particular service got hung up.
