I have put up a new freeware device on my website, it is very small, but useful.

You will have to look for it.

Enjoy!

Stephen, when i click to load the interface it opens almost offscreen (luckily there's enough to drag it into the main window). i'm on Mac BTW.

Mr Arkadin

PS. What does the T and B stand for?

PPS. Loving überplastic, should have some new presets here soon

yeah, i noticed that it appeared pretty far over to the right for some reason (but fully onscreen on my system running 1024x768). it could have something to do with the state that i optimized the device in. as long as you can grab it, this should be no biggy.

glad you dig the "uber", i've been writing lots with it, as well.

cheers,

stephen

edit: T = "Top" and B = "Bottom", the four corners are top-left, top-right, bottom-left, and bottom-right.

I'm at work - SFPless so I have to try it later

Sometimes, waiting for customers, I update [ie. hit 'refresh' button in my browser] PlanetZ site very frequently. That's why it was so fast for me to find your post then to look at your webpage and then to d/l the controller

OK, i have found a way to optimize the device even further and (i think) fixed the "surface-off-to-the-side" issue.

Download the new version from my site and replace the old file with the new one.

Let me know...

Cheers,

Stephen

Heeeeeeeeeyyyyy,

The device I downloaded isn't called Blighter, where can I get that one?

It should be called Blender  Thanks, Stephen - works great on my Mac!!! Small is huge!

WoW! It's not that simple to implement the feature of delaying the volume speed speed - try to connect only one in and move the vector very fast - you'll notice that!

Is it possible to assign a midi controller to the ball?

In order to record the movements into a seq.

the ball is controlling multiple crossfades at the same time, so you would need multiple linear MIDI-faders to emulate this motion, which would be fairly clumsy to operate (or a dedicated joystick like on a Wavestation, of course).

a single MIDI-control fader will get you from A to B, but the V-MIX "ball" is controlling A to B, B to C, C to D, and D back to A...

Couldn't it have a controller for the x-axis and one for the y-axis?

A very neat and fun device but I concur that controller assignments would improve the utility of this.

I would have to agree that x & y axis controls that are midi assignable isn't very intuitive when trying to control the device itself from wheels or sliders.

However, using the control surface this provides to write the midi automation with mouse movements would make this a very useful device and needn't change its functionality at all with the exception of perhaps a few extra controls. Right now its more useful for realtime mouse mixing than sequencing...

Here's my suggestion:

(warning: SPOILER image for those who haven't gone to download it yet. Please don't look until AFTER visiting wavelength.com so you don't spoil your adventure  )

The X & Y indicators would make it easy to simplify assigning midi control to each axis.

you are right, of course. a simple pair of faders could handle the x/y movement... the inverse crossfades could be controlled automatically by the same x/y faders. well... if you really want it... and maybe V-MIX's stereo friend?

just give me a bit here.

Hey, I don't give you a "bit". I am not that greedy. You can have a Byte - ok, maybe ½ a Byte ...

fantastic device!!! have been spacing time away all night long, and it improved my mousing technique a lot!
i was dreaming away and saw myself sitting there with four joysticks... ah well.
real nice little tool. it has served its purpose alright.

i'm a little saturated on the synth side, but am looking more for devices like this. if you could make a little pack with this kind of devices, midi featured, i'd pay up.
something the other way round would be top. i mean, one input and four (preferably eight) outputs. i'm going to collaborate with one of my former high school teachers who is into 'electroacoustic' music. he has a an eight way speaker system, and i see lots of possibilities here to do some awesome 'surround' things.
i might send you an email this weekend...

thanks stephen. had LOTS of fun with this one already!
