Hi there,
my first question in this forum, was answered very succesfull, so it gave me hope, for some more stupid questions (this time).
I have problems to record effects, or hear the effects without recording them.
first problem:
I want to record from my analog input, and have an insert-effect for example, let´s say Radio Caroline. Now I´d like to record that to Cubase SX. But I can only HEAR the effect, not record it. And then I hear it on all tracks in SX. On the other hand I´d like to use that Luna-effect on a VstI for example.
second problem:
Is very similar to the first. I´d like to have an effect, let´s say Amp Modeller, and don#t want to record it, but I hear it on the other Instruments in SX. This question is implyed in the first, I know. But I wanted to describe, that on the one hand I want to record that effekt, on the other, I´d just like to listen to it, and only to that. I guess it´s all a routing thing, but since I`m not very used to build up all this routing-things, my brain isn´t developed for that. Can you please help me. I think that´s all I need to know..

seems definitely a routing issue...
a screenshot of your routing window might be very useful to find a solution.

it appears to me that you have the effect on your audio coming from the sequencer (asio). where did you insert the fx? a channel slot? the master?
some more info would be appropriate. it should be easy to solve.

First you need to setup a prosject in SFP with 2 or more Asio source into mixer (this is cubase out)
Lets say you use 2* asio source into mixer ch 1 and 2 (bus 1 and 2 in Cubase).
Setup 2* asio dest; 1 analog source (from card) and 1 from mixer out (parallel to monitors)
Then you have to enable VST input/output in Cubase (you'll se one pr asio)
When you have recorded 1 track, asign it to a bus in cubase (1 or 2 in this ex)
Now you can assign effects in Cubase or in SFP - and record it to you're IN2 into Cubase.
You then get 1 clean and 1 effected wavefile.
Your second question is about same routing and all of the possibilities there is.

Guess this was a poor lesson, but think of ASIO source(s) as Cubase output(s), and you can/must enable as many VST output as there is asio sources.

Recording from outboard gear (mic etc) is your analog source, and need to be connected with a asio dest (Cubase input)

Use SFP mixer STM1632, it's the best starter, the STM2448 is more complex.
