i found a somewhat simpler way to work with mod2 setp sequencer, gate, arpeggiator module. they have normally 32 pattern and the pattern are usually selected by the patter seq module (the one with play/stop button). using the patter seq module is a pain, since it does not interact with your sequencer.
so that is the trick: assign a CC to the pattern number selection in the control sequencer 1,2 B1, b2, gate seq or whatever.
now from you host (sonar, cubase, etc) you can recall the pattern simply with a CC change. much easier!!

Just refers to a MIDI 'control change' message.
(Or...is it 'continuous controller'?

)
e.g.
MIDI CC #1 - modulation
MIDI CC #7 - volume
MIDI CC #11 - expression
(typical use)

Sorry guys. I'm having difficulty understanding how to do this with logic. Are there any logic users out there that can explain this tip to me in 'budding pulsarian' terms? Like step 1, step 2 etc. pleeze.

i don't use logic, but this may help.
in sfp, you can right click (on pc!) most knobs & faders to assign them a #cc.
then you should be able to record movements of that knob in logic, on the corresponding midi channel - i have no physical midi controller , so i often draw them in in an editor (in cubase) by just calling up the corresponding #cc editor for the knob.
hope that isn't too obvious - i have a knack of posting help that someone already knew, causing me to feel like a knob with no #cc
