I've been staring at this disk for too long. Can someone advise me on how I find the file I need to replace? Is it through "regedit"?

I've downloaded the patch onto floppy....Now what? Feeling a bit dumb.....

no,it's a driver not a registry line.i'm not at my computer right now,or i'd be more specific.it goes in the sfp folder,in a driver folder i believe........the file should already be there.you are replacing it.you can find the location by using the windows find command.search for "akai.dll"(or the name of the file on your floppy.it should be the same as the old file)

well that's all the accessible memory on that subject at this time....

Thanks Gary. I keep meaning to get "XP for Dummies". I'll check out the search function tomorrow and if I can't sort it out I'll ask for specifics.

hi Mikka,

are you refering to the akai.dll and CDXP.dll ?
The first one goes into SFP/App/Bin, the second into SFP/App/Bin/CDAccess.

cheers, tom

Thanks Tom. It's the "how do they get there" I'm lost with. I asked them politely but they just look at me. Probably adolescents with a rebellious attitude.

That's my face on the bottom.........

I found the files OK through the search function. I'll just have to fiddle a little a bit more by the look of it. Thanks to you all.

Thanks Gary. I'll find out soon enough, but as a newbie I suspect I need tech patch for myself.
