Cado to the songwriter.
I think it's very defficult to capture the emotion of the song, without getting too "sensitive" in the production, if you know what I mean. Whenever I add instruments like strings and so on, it soúnds nice, but too "overdone".
Comments about production and good ideas are superwelcome, my thrusted, and patient people.
Another more D&B version of the song is here :

B e a u t i f u l piece.
Professional and sensitive approach in vocals recording and sound, guitars part, and the key-sound of this song- the bass with that deep compression. Is this the MiniMax? Sounds great on my HR824.
Heard the D&B version but it does not serves nor the lyrics, the vocals and the idea (IMHO!). As you said, I agree, not to add anything. Important part of the music is the quiet parts between the notes. The Triphoip version provides better 'respect' to the song.
One thing I miss (production-wise) is a high sound (could be a swelled/reversed guitar) which will feel the space two meters above the singer, and 4 meters ahead distance from the listener. Once in a while only like a spice. That could serve as the missing 'high-dimension' I sometimes felt. I deliberately not talking about adding high frequency parts. This is not the case.

Thalamus, what did you use for that deep bass? Was it a three-O-three pulsar device? Orbitone or Obsidan one? These are the only three-O-three pulsar devices I have.
And is MZ right that it has alot of compression on it to make it sound that phat?
(sorry MZ, I only just read your post asking if the bass is from the Minimax - I would like to know where this bass is from too but thought that the three-O-three was mainly for basses??? either way we might find out, huh?)
Please let me know. It sounds so clean and phat!

MZ : Thanks for listening and your kind comments. The bass is Three-O-Three.
Yeah, I also think I'll stick with the triphop version, and I agree with you that the soundspace needs some spice. The song allready got far more finished than this post. The vocals needs to be redone fx, course most of what she sings is nonsense.
deejaysly : The bass is Orbitone Three-O-Three with saw waveform, a little subosc, speaker killer on, through vinco (heavy compressed) and then a lo and hi cut on timeworks EQ. I really like the sound too, but I think I'll work a little on the dynamics so it sounds a little more real (like natural decaying).
I can send you a preset for the T-O-T, but half the sound is really Vinco, don't know if you have that one...

Well, its time to check the TOT again

it is imperssing, the results you got with it, and I own the Vinco so I guess I heard its touch.
I agree about the decay, jently...I trust your ears...
Good work.

Yeah, I owe so much to TOT. It makes me sound like I want to, like nothing else.

Nice feeling! Well produced, Noah! Two comments: 1: on my monitors, the bass is a touch too loud in the overall balance, but I'm equipped to hear the low frequencies well!
The other thing is about the arrangement and is subjective, but I feel that some pad-like layer(s) could subtly enhance the tune and complement the general feeling. Something very gentle, definitely in the background and only at chosen moments... My little comment...
Good work!
