This document has moved. Took me awhile to find it. It's now here:

(edited 8/17/05 with the current location- google "W2k_XP_Optimize.pdf" to the rescue!)

BUMP...?

Its a shame Subhuman is not around any more
so he can't do an edit in this great topic for information on one of the most used OS's at this moment

maybe some feel like giving it shot to put all the info updated in one post

Thanks Thanks Thanks PlanetZ people,
I've done not much posting lately, and also I've mist out on lot of post to busy with all the new toys  But I did a lot of searches on the forum and again I would not have been where I am now Thanks

when I'm done with using this page, I'm installing a new system and all things good come at once... new Scope 4.0 , cubase update from vst 5.1 to SX 2.01, I'll give it a try.

as for the new system its a system with Asus p4p800(not the luxe andre  ) and three Scope boards . I will put my exsperiences on the forum soon.

ok, i have read a lot of winXp optimization sites and manuals, but still i don't know if I install ACPI or Standard PC, what's better for audio performance ?
Because in one article writes that if using ACPI "there's assigning devices to single IRQ's", but i have checked in Device Manager and i have ACPI Multiprocessor PC installed by default and i have all my PCI cards on different IRQ's.
Is beside this in Standard PC mode anything different if i don't have problems with assigning to single IRQ's ?

thanks

I think the 'everything getting 1 IRQ' thing is in Windows 2000, not XP.
I guess if you're happy in ACPI mode there's no reason to change it.....if you're processor is capable of HT it's the only way to use it, and you can get up to 24 IRQs.
I only use Standard PC because I couldn't get ACPI to work 100%.

Wow! I just turned off tons of services and startup programs that I don't need, with the help of TweakXP.net, and now I'm getting much better CPU performance in Sonar! Also some FireWire problems I was having seem to be fixed. Awesome!!
