Well I am referring to live performance, as I also agree Native has some benefits as developers take advantage of the immense power of the i7's and Xeon counterparts.
But still, mp3's and headphones or nearfields sound great, but live, Native needs all effects disabled so hardware may be used.
I can't explain it except that Native has some sort of panning laws that cause the sound to seem like it eminates from the rear of the speaker cabinet. It can be corrected by eliminating the baked in, usually weak effects, and adding UAD, Scope DSP or even better hardware.
You can immediately hear the instruments SPL's getting pushed out of the speaker like a real Guitar, Bass or hardware synth.
I also was priveledged to see the Brittany Spears show once which was all automated, but the sound was awesome, and guess what....tracks were recorded dry and left alone for seperate controls and added dynamics or hardwaqre effects during the show.
Kind of like having an old Master Tape before it went to 2 track.
ANd in all honesty the chicks and dancers were so fine they could have played chopstix and I would have liked it.

These automated shows are where it's at these days. But I am interested to see what Madonna does at the Superbowl. She might automate everything but she is actually one of the few pop artists I admire as she is involved with all writing, dancing, lighting etc, If she doesn;t know something she learns it and to be her age and still have the fire is commendable. If I see Patrick Leonard playing, I will die, plus I know it will be live or he wouldn;t even be there. She stole him from the Jackson Victory tour and they were a great team for years. Similar to Benetar and her husband on Guitar.

Agreed.
Try running any Omnisphere or Kontakt library DRY through Scope processors, and you get more 'mass' in the sound - especially when mixing drums such as Superior2.

Otherwise for live I'm using ALL Scope synths and plugs such as Vinco in the master channel to get that extra 'beef'.

Next I'll be running my amp back through Scope as part of master mix to the FOH, and not even bother mic'ing the amp anymore. We'll see.

Nevertheless having the dedicated gigaflops still has it's advantages.
