Global Warming
Nice one Shroomz, but i do know the difference.
Casper, once again i bring up the fact that the Nazi war effort was fueled by SYNTHETIC petroleum which was made in the same way as in the earth. the process is well understood. certainly the process is limited, but we are nowhere near outstripping supply, which is why the oil companies have been buying up independant refineries like mad and then shutting them down(to keep supply short and prices up). for SURE, we DO need to find something other than oil for energy as this stuff is poisonous....it seems that oil is mostly made VERY deep in the earth, deeper than originally though and then it finds it's way up into shale deposits which have biological remains(because of how shale is formed). oil from this level is not as high quality and is "dirty". the best crude comes from very deep and is called "sweet". it is exactly the chemical consistancy of synthetic oil with little or no biological markers.

Jerome Corsi and Michael Ruppert will debate whether oil is a renewable source produced deep inside the Earth, or a finite resource which will become more scarce within our lifetime.

A VERY interesting debate guys, it is the debate we are having right now, but then with:

Be sure you don't miss it. Neat!

"All for themselves"
yes indeed!
Pink Floyd - "Dogs of War"
Dogs of war and men of hate
With no cause, we don't discriminate
Discovery is to be disowned
Our currency is flesh and bone
Hell opened up and put on sale
Gather 'round and haggle
For hard cash, we will lie and deceive
Even our masters don't know the webs we weave
................
The dogs of war don't negotiate
The dogs of war won't capitulate,
They will take and you will give,
And you must die so that they may live
You can knock at any door,
But wherever you go, you know they've been there before
Well winners can lose and things can get strained
But whatever you change, you know the dogs remain.

great story, I knew the principle only from Donald Duck comics...
But they forget one thing: there hurricanes have a function, they transport warmth of the sea water to the air, where it get's transported to other -less warm- areas.
What if we humans start to disturb that process...we probably caused already those high numbers of big hurricanes...

As last week's downpours turned into some of the worst floods in New England since the 1930s, the world was shown images from southern Maine of washed-out roads, buckled bridges and people canoeing down roads that had turned into rivers.
However, the skeptics say:
WAS GLOBAL warming to blame for this month’s flooding? In truth, no one knows (my comment: really!). Unfortunately, that won’t stop environmental alarmists from claiming a connection.
“It’s impossible to say this one event is proof of climate change,” state climatologist David Brown said last week.
AccuWeather meteorologist Henry Margusity told ABC News that weather patterns are “random, and nowadays with all the technology, we have things that have always been happening to us are becoming more apparent because we’re filming it.”
That raises an interesting question. Major flooding certainly seems to have become more common in the United States in the last 60 years. But is that evidence of global warming, man-made alterations in the terrain, more widespread and accurate measurements, or just a natural weather cycle? Or a little of each?
No one really knows. (my comment: again, no seriously?)
Again the evidence is overwhelming.

I think the title of a Stevie Wonder's album is the right way to say how the weather is here these days: hotter than July.
There's a proverb saying something like: no worse deaf than who don't wanna hear.
I should adjust it here: no worse blind than who don't wanna see.
In the hope Mr. Wonder could forgive.

I heard of disturbances from weathercasts but here in the south, today is near 30° C.
Yestarday was hot but windy in my town; today it is stifling.
Just some day ago, gooling about mount Merapi eruption, I was reading this

This could be a good starting point for ranting about house building techs. On 2006-05-21 09:23, astroman wrote:
evidence of warming ???
yesterday I had to turn the central heating back on - probably caught a cold in the rain, too.
ok, I've heard about this as the paradox side effects (in this area) of global warming
cheers, Tom
In my land the percentage of energy for cooling and heating wasted due to dispersion through walls and windows is very very high.
There's a lot of talking about this since many years by now, but new buldings grow up using the same old techs as for projects and materials; and it seems nobody speaks about new laws in this regard, yet.

O.K. too much red wine again but what the hell
First there was the nucular scare that I grew up with ...we are all going to die in a nuclear blaze/winter
the next one was we're gonna run out of oil and we're all F*****
Then there was the hole in the ozone layer we're all gonna get melanoma and we're all F*****
Actually they didn't believe the hole data at first and thought the satellite was F*****
but what the hell it made a good story and all the scientific pundits looked cool and a significant percentage of them got laid on the strength of being on the box.
Then it was AIDS ...gays screwing monkeys in cameroon or some such thing ....global warming ...and bird flu .
Look just in case someone out there hasn't noticed and needs to be reminded we are actually, all, most definitely, FUCKED . It's only a matter of time you know
At the risk of sounding selfish ..it doesn't friggin matter ,the planet ..the universe ...downtown ...it doesn't really NEED anyone you know .It changes ,it all changes all the time... it's DYNAMIC.. so dont worry... BE DYNAMIC...or get whacked or whatever.
Amen

Well, this is Dynamics in action (so you know what to do when "dynamism" hits your city, I'm not trying to scare you):

See this huge one
If only that Hummer could float:

Don't forget to take your boats on a hiking trip:

Oil storage facility flooded:
