Coolness.
Was it a j9k device?
I had downloaded devices way back when but many were for 3.1 which I had on the old DP DAW which was leased by management. Check out S4 ( stereo channel 4 ) of the jpeg above, there's an old Bastard from Neutron that is perfectly working and sounds really sweet. I have in inert slot # 1. And will use it on vocals for a unison effect. It's perfect and really makes my Clavinet step out of the mix w/o using a Multi-tap w/ a tail, or other time based effects.
Thanks Brotha' Man Greg.

Yes, that's it!
It's actually pretty decent, and low overhead as well.

Right-O.
Thank You Brotha' Men.
BTW, I never thought of BDX Valve as an Exciter,....thanks. I also love the sizzle it provides on Drum Mixes.

Btw I have a psy-q usage that I didn't see directly referenced here (though it could be easily inferred). When I'm layering sounds I find Psy-q extremely useful as a sort of phase/time alignment tool when used on bands that are firmly present in the upper bass & lower midrange registers (600hz-1500hz).
My usage is usually on basses, as in typical modern electronic bass production. Starting with a sin osc/subosc for the suboctave (or just a properly tuned sin wave if layering in the sampler) then the main thrust of the 'bass' lowpassed firmly to occupy the next 3 octaves on top of that (potentially layering square osc-ish to skip the 2nd octave and leave more room for the drums in 100-200hz), then on top of that bandpassed & highpassed elements. Usually psy-q comes into play when there's a portion of the bandpassed bass(es) that either isn't sitting right or is getting lost in the mix. The compression might be redundant so it helps to pay attention to compression elsewhere especially down the chain, but it seems by slightly retarding the bass settings & pushing the 'hi' shelf forward I can usually make things a bit more cutting.

i think you'd be surprised just how much the dsp is doing, even if it's just effects and control over an "analog" oscillator and filter....
Yes I would be surprised

In fact the only DSP the A6 has is a single chip generic Alesis effects processor which can be switched completely out of circuit with analog switches. The CPU duties are taken care via a Motorola Coldfire (68000 based which makes it a 'real' Mac!). This feeds some 12bit DAC's which provide the DC control voltage for the very very real analog VCO and VCF - the same way ANY real analog synth that has any sort programmabe presets and CPU does. It really does not get any more real analog unless you go for a non CPU/preset synths. Just clearing up a bit of A6 misinformation in this thread
(p.s. I have a copy of the A6 circuit diagrams if anyone is interested in them)

gary: everyone knows the most brilliant minds are here on planetz, so need to make sure educate the masses with facts
stardust: I got the A6 service manual/circuits from here -
