"Only" killed one person, but a very dangerous explosion. It was intended merely as a test run for a much bigger series of attacks.

piddi, sure, there was the Lockerbie which most of us will remember, but what was new in the 9/11 attacks was that planes weren't bombed - they were hi-jacked then used as weapon. That never happened before! All commercial passenger jets now have, as per regulations, anti-hijacking reinforced doors preventing access to the cockpit. They can only be opened from the flightdeck, sometimes using a key code from the cabin. One night the crew left the door lock armed when they closed it and left the plane, took me a while to figure out how to get back in

911 planes used as weapons, sure...
that's why the nsa and cia were running simulations of the exact same planes flying into the exact same places at the exact same time. want to know why those polanes weren't intercepted? the people monitoring them thought that it was the drill...
