I think is time to start agreeing every item, so we don't get lost.
I would ask for 7 files so everybody is pleased with it, not too many, not to little. How many would you like. Let´s concentrate in this, and get rid of this first thing.
How many files do you want?

7 sounds fine to me

WOW, the thread sort of exploded... Nestor, can you make a comprehensive list of the most up to date rules? And perhaps we should make a final decision soon.

I can't, there are too many different ideas and it's difficult to sort them all out. What I would like is to go one by one, so even if it seem slowler, it will be faster by the end.
What do you think Ken? If you don't agree wtih it, I will nevertheless try to do a new list...

BTW: how many files would you like yourselves Ken?
Petal already said 7, we have one vote, anybody else? I too say 7.

There have allready been a brainstormingprocess - since you have called for this challence I think it's only fair that you take the final decission - So in order to move things forward, I think that you should simply put together a set of rules that you think is fair under the given oppinions - I mean, in the end it really doesn't matter that much what the rules are, but more that the rules are known.

Simple is good. Why not say anyone can contribute any number, any style, less than 10 ?
And if you don't contribute clips (I will never use XTC), can you still enter the competition ?

Hey Spirit! Nice to se you joining here...
Well, I think it's nice if most of us can participate, so using XTC and FTP could be alsdo done.
Now, please, let's just answer ONE question at a time, so we finish soon. Napoleon used to say to his servants: "Dress me slowly because I'm in a hurry"...

I'm not kidding, this is historical. I trully think we need to go ONE question at a time, so we are not lost.
So, Spirit, how many do you thing it's ok? You said no more than 10, but how less...?

Cammon you energetic musicians, you... crazy diamond, shine up in your splendour... Lets get at it...

What answers are you waiting for? I think 5 files should be enough. 5 files of anything should be fine. All percussion, or all basslines, whatever.

FTP=SFP?
I would prefer 5 files. It makes it easyer (for my brain) to cope with the amount of files.

for me it would be wise to post a maximum number of files, not minimum.
the idea of dividing them into "sections" (leads, bass, percussion, etc) is ggod, but if i havent an idea for the bass... then i can skip it and play only lead and percussion (just to say...)
so, let's define some "wave category", and let people post a maximum 1 file for each of them.

I'm not really sure of the wave category idea.. I mean, I can take a lead part and perhaps implement it as a bass part, or use some other sample as a percussion part. The categorizing seems more of a filenaming convention to me.
I think it might be easy to say that you can have a max of, say 5 samples. You need a minimum of 1 percussion, 1 bass, 1 lead. The remaining 2 is for free use.

and perhaps you can include a text file breifly discussing how you went about creating the samples and how you planned for them to be used. (just as pointers)

Ok, that's fine Ken. I think most ideas are interesting, the only thing we have to do is to put them into practice.
I think the 10 files has its own pros and cons, and the 5 as well has its, and so on. Whatever format you choose to go people, would be ok, the important thing here is go agree soon which one.
We need to be flxible to each other, so everybody can feel having a part on it, so any suggestion is 100% wellcomed, and will be taken into account.
Ken, the addition of a text file explaining the lot it's a good very usuful idea. Indeed, I think it would help a lot.
5 files seems to be the prefered quantity of files so far so ok, lets go "5". Nevertheless, as suggested above, I think we should as well give the opportunity to everybody to do more than 5 if they want to, but the fix thing would be the 5 files with its own category. So, I would change the two you want to leave to free creation, to chords if you don't mind. All those different files or experimental in any way you would like to add, can be added without problem, even if you want to do a lot of 100.
I would like, for instance, to includ quite a few more than 5, just for fun, and just to increase the amount of posibilities. We can end up with our own library here, sort of "Z Sample Library".
What do you think about this so?

I think you can start making calls. I think it's ok to make the current rules final if you don't find anything wrong with it.
As for the "more than 5" idea, just have a "others" folder and a "contest" folder setup on the ftp.

Yea, I just want everybody to feel confortable with the choices made. For me it's ok.
I'm going to come up with a complete list so, of what you have said, plus the rest, other details that are stil missing and that's it, we can start our work.
