Re: New Drum Rig
I had a D70 when it was brand new, and sold it...bought my PulsarII card & needed a good contoller, and from what Jimmy said...it does the trick...and for the huge SY99...I picked them both up from different studios that barely even turned them on...I think I have a total of $800-900 US combined for the two...and in mint condition...to me that's a bargain....
They are a little bit hard to come by now...at lease in somewhat good condition...I found these mint ones & I jumped right away, so they won't get away...now I'm a proud owner of 2 great vintage synth/controllers...
Jimmy, Gary, & Tom...thanks for the thumbs up...Greg...the jury is still out on you...
...aahh..I love ya anyway...just cuz ya give me so much shit....

astroman wrote:a REAL FM is a must imho, the SY99 is still tempting for me... having a TX7, an 802 and an SMD incarnation in the DX200 groove-box.netguyjoel wrote:...but it won't have the REAL FM stuff of the 99...the rig will grow, eventually to become a beast that must be fed...
From time to time I dump old DX7 presets into the DX200, tweak them conveniently with the dials of the box and save back as banks for the TX.
Amazing what textures you can squeeze from such a supposedly 'outdated' technology
sidenote: guess the background vocal chick with the DX7 at 0.30
Joel, if that's the floor of your garage, what a hell of a car do you own ?![]()
great project of course, thumbs up - I seem to have 2 left hands in this domain...
cheers, Tom

Re: New Drum Rig
Meanwhile... here's my latest studio 'reconstruction' - post-flood...
Not much room for drums though, so I'm stuck a padKontrol and Superior2 (and collaboration with drummer friends in Denver, Cleveland, and LA).
Notice what now resides at the center console.
(current planned live geetar / Stick rig sits to the left)

Re: New Drum Rig
Almost setup for surround, but not 7.1.
Studio desk is Omnirax. (I forget the model - got it slightly used).
