On the other hand, I would love to see devices split into:
- Stand alone devices
- Modular Modules

Combining the problem solving, modular, music or devices forums would be a big mistake imo. Maybe I've missed a worthwhile forum or two, but at the end of the day if you just want a chatroom, then make it so. I don't think anyone here would want forums to be a burden on you after all. As far as I'm concerned though, you've played a major part in the continuation of Scope through keeping this site running, so thanks a million for that.
cheers,
Mark

Maybe even add more sections to the current Pulsar Files section....
it be neat if we could tag post depending on content. are such systems availible for phpBB ?

One thing I always wondered is: What is the proper place to put general questions about Scope (about certain scope devices, scope hardware or other scope related questions to be answered by other members)? I always felt that a question doesn't fit in the Problem Solving Forum as there is no actual problem, and it's not intended to start a Scope Discussion either

It might be a good idea to combine some forums, but I thought maybe it would be nice to add a sort of Q&A forum? Just a crazy idea here... Or is the Discussion forum the right place for this?

If you want to discuss Scope, and you don't have an actual problem at hand, then most of the time, the 'Discussion' area is the place to go.

Back before phpBB2, I had heavily modified the phpBB 1.4 code to support my own tagging system for planetz files, complete with custom search filters, etc. When I upgraded to phpBB2, I asked everyone how much they used that stuff, and nearly everyone said they did not use it. So I abandoned that custom code.
Being less customized makes it easier to upgrade when they release newer versions of phpBB...

I vote for the easier to maintain route as phpbb's popularity makes it a big target for automated attacks on the web. I would hate to see planetz being slow due to its use in DOS attacks, or to see it used as a vector to distribute malware.

Just a small suggestion if you have time - please make html links open in a new window instead of the current one
Thanks for all the improvements recently.

In fact, I noticed it right away. You can hardly find any relative topics with a simple keyword now, even if you select the appropriate forum. And the returned results are quite messed up too. It was definately better before... Right?

Sorry guys, I need to reindex the search. I forgot that I had cancelled it during the upgrade, and never re-ran it.
Francis also had pointed out that the color scheme in the results page was messed up- and I fixed that.

Hehe - as a phpBB admin I can appreciate this. Try doing a search index rebuild of 160k posts, while membership screams for a working search system & while running low on db space for the rebuild tables.

Yeah, the reason I cancelled it at the time, was cuz it was taking forEVER

I'll try to remember to start it up tomorrow morning...
