I solved my freezing problem, at least until now :)
it seems like the problem has something to do with windows media center editon, which is my laptop´s basic system.
everything works great with that xp media center. except if i want to use scope4.5 a freeze out of a sudden occurs.

i did a fresh reinstall with winxp professional including service pack 2 and 3. after that my freezing problem disappeared until i activate the w-lan. after that i got that freezes again. so i decided to deactivate w-lan. the result is no freezing at all.

the w-lan adapter is an Intel Pro/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection according to my system info. (I did a search in google for "freeze" and that "3945ABG". it causes a lot of problems with other system as it seems. interestingly in almost every post in which a freeze occurs the 3945AGB was involved somewhere!)

my working setup so far is:

Sony Fe31M Centrino Duo2 1,86Ghz with 2gb ram
Win XP (vers. 2002) with SP2 & SP3
Scope 4.5
Magma 4PCI extender (Pericom Chipset) connected with the "silver" cable to a Magma EC34 which is placed in a Texas Instruments controlled Expresscard slot of the Sony Fe31M.

Currently i have installed a Creamware Scope 15dsp (built 2004) in the first PCI slot and a UAD1 in the third PCI slot.

a second creamware card will follow (a pulsar 1) and a second UAD1. I will report on that.

Hello, I have read the hole thread but there is something I didn´t find clear;
Any of you have found a improvement using EC adapter but with DEC chip in other notebook not Macbook? That should be interested to know.
DEC+PCMCIA 4-5 MVs
Pericom+EC 8-9 MVs
Right?
So how many MVs using DEC+EC?

Not what you are asking for, but another data point: Pericom+Cardbus 7MVs

This is on an older laptop w/TI Cardbus chipset, highly shared IRQ

lagoausente,

I have tried the EC with the DEC chip, but it performs worse than the PCMCIA... I have tried this long ago, so I cannot give you the details (unless it's in this thread somewhere), but I do remember it didn't work so well. To get better performance over the PCMCIA/DEC, you'll need the EC interface, silver cables and Pericom-chip chassis.

BTW, the Pericom PCI board is of a different size than the DEC, and it may not fit on a DEC chassis... at least on the CB2 model.

Cheers, and a happy 2010!

Ok, you mentioned that posibly the problem was because you used a Macbook? So I´m curious about any other laptop testing.., no other one have tried it?
