What counts is ampere not watt.

Eh.. how do you calcutale Watts??

p(watt)=U(Volt)xI(Ampere)

So Watt counts!

Heh.. mixed up a bit.. it's correct now..

Anywho..
I'm not saying you need a 550W psu, but you dfinately need bigger than 235..

You should find technical specs of everything in your pc, and calculate what you need from that..

But if you are lazy, like me, you will get a psu that is a bit oevrkill in any case...heh..

I think a 360W psu is absolutely minimum in any case, a 420W psu would be considered extreemely safe

well....upgraded to a 350 Watt PSU ...

STILL NO LUCK!!!!

GRRRRRR!

I'm going to kill something!

can only run 2 masterverbs with empty project, sometimes 6, sometimes 7, but when I load them as inserts, I can load 12!!! WTF!! I'm going crazy here

Heh, well, I would think it actually works, the pci-bus is a strange thing, because this kind of behaviour I had at 1st too.

I could load 6 MV's at one time, and then load so many MV's that my DSP's would run out when I inserted them to my STM-2448 mixer..
And then suddenly 4 MV's again after that.
Then one time I could suddenly load 13MV's normally..

Not sure why it's like this, might be some device on your pci-bus hogging bandwith at times, and at other times not...

Anywho, when you've hit the bandwidth maximum, you probably cannot load as many MV's again in a while, since the computer will "put the brakes" on your Pulsar to not let it hog so much pci-bandwidth..
This is normal, some guru's on here might know how to turn that function off as well..

And don't feel that getting a 350W psu was wasted, because it wasn't, your system now gets more of the power it needs to run safely, and to stay healthy, if it is one thing that kills computer cirquits, it's low voltage!

cheap power supplies are the cause of much trouble.often their actual output is considerably lower than the rated output.

Yes, they rate peak output instead of constant output..

Well, this one was quite cheap...
It's one of these: http://www.qtec.info/products/product.htm?artnr=13263
Cost about 30,- Euros, dunno what's normal for PSU's though...

Maybe I should get a bit more expensive one? But I'm afraid it won't make any difference...

And I don't really care about how many masterverbs I can load at one time, but the fact that I constantly get this PCI overload thing even with a normal project without masterverbs is annoying.

My 550W psu is q qtech too...
I like it.

I read an independent test somewhere, and it outperformed a 550W Enermax...
The 550W Enermax would not actually put out more than 430W.

actually qtech is different from qtec I think.
Anyway, my old 235 watt must have been cheap as well, and that seemed to have little problems powering my AthlonXP2600 system  (still, I am glad I upgraded the power, even if it's just to avoid future problems)

edit.
I now see this PSU does not have a second vent, and AMD recommends having a PSU with a second vent (because that would be right next to the CPU and improve airflow and cooling. I've decided it's not very wise to go for a cheap PSU like this so I'm gonna exchange it for something better (and more expensive) ...
