Yes it does mean something about the product DXL.
It means someone gained world renown for a piece of work completed on that product.
But I agree - it doesn't really mean the product is better than anything else out there. Maybe good for sales and that's about it.

I bought my Pulsar for the following reasons:
1. I got a good deal on ebay.
2. I tried the MOTU 2408, the Yamaha DSP Factory, ADAT edit, Paris, and Hammerfall systems. None of them could singly do what the Pulsar system can!
3. I wanted to streamline my work environment. Pulsar allowed me to get rid of a bunch of old synths and samplers, reaplacing an entire rack in my studio.
4. Pulsar has a patch bay. This is so understated but is functional beyond anything else besides the processing power.
5. My wife said I could spend the real money on a real system and I'm still like a kid in a candy store. I love it.

I was always a hardware person. Over the years so many synths ! Perhaps dozens. But I always disliked the "spagehti jungle" of audio and midi leads and constant repatching (not to mention tearing down the whole system to play live).
So I thought I'd just get a bit of PC gear to see how it went. I quizzed the music stores, poked about on the web, and was constantly disappointed in that it was always "how fast is your PC" ? I didn't want to buy a bit of PC kit AND a new PC....

) but all up it's truly amazing.hi:),i choose a pulsar but i must say not for technical reasons cause i was not abble to make a real difference beetween all the systems on market(i had just an atari with an akai s20).I choose a Pulsar plus cause(after demos) i had the feeling that it is a kind of open and intelligent way to have a computerizzed audio system,in sense that if your needs are growing and your technical level too(and talent of course) this system had no limit for experimentations and discovering,that is the main reason.Second reason was that a friend of mine who is a real mastering master have at this period used pulsar in his studio just for conversion and routing he tells me "take it,don't hesitate" so i lesson advice and i don't regret.

I knew about Pulsar from the mags and all agreed '... but you need a fast machine for the interface...', so I thought 'no stuff for my Celeron 333...'
After returning an Aardvark card (great reviews but a real piece of s..) to the shop they convinced me to try the Pulsar over the weekend. I was completely blown away: it had all I ever dreamed of, simply the perfect system with that flexibility. And it worked without hazzle on that small machine.
Of course I made the deal and never regretted. I got it for $550 (someone had exchanged it for a Pulsar 2 - my luck), Propack was $150 and Triple plug the same - a really competetive system for that price.

Actually, I was really interested in the info you gave.
I've never thought about my setup like that.
I seem to create the set up each time and it's always different, but for a mixdown project, having everything that "rigid" is probably a really good idea. Saves you setting it up from scratch over and over again.

I like the Pulsar setup so very much, that I want to go on with it and nothing else… I mean, If I were to buy another System, I would buy a Pulsar AGAIN, no doubt at all, or even better a Scope system.
Obviously, I'm missing for it to be more stable cos there are eventually some stability problems that do not depend on my system. I have to say too, that Pulsar Software is every time more and more stable.
Those little problems can be important at times when you are busy and need to finish something “right away”, but are insignificant compare with all the wealth you pull out of it.
Anyway, these bugs are minor bugs and I always arrive to finish my ideas in a single day, or let's say, in a go, of course depending on what you have to do.
The only real problem I have had is with some “projects” not willing to load, so you have to load them again and again and again till they load correctly. I've been careful to the most to be absolutely sure it wasn't anything else, i.e., a program, or hardware incompatibility, bad configuration,etc.
I have had so much satisfaction working with Pulsar… So, soooo many hours of great musical fulfilment! I'm so grateful to it!

Each person had a completely different and subjective - to say the least - view of the Digital Arena and it's positilities. Sellers disappointed me completely and their knowledge about the different Sound Cards they were selling, was totally out of date, incomplete and even contradictory. I was looking for somebody with real experience, but couldn't find any to talk with, willing to guide me a little.
I didn't know what to do, there were so many possibilities and so many Sound Cards! It was a hell!
Well, I said to myself: “Don’t go into it till you know what you're doing and buying. Have some knowledge first, and then go for it”.
So I started to read everything about everything regarding Digital Music. Bought many magazines, went to all the web sites related with those things, etc., etc., then found Pulsar for myself. Studied it and was amazed at what the concept was. I found it extraordinarily intelligent and powerful.
Then I went to the personal part: “What do I want to do exactly and which are my needs?” So I found that Pulsar, apart from the fact of being special to my eyes, and "EARS" cos it sounded so extremely good that I couldn't believe my ears, particularly it's synths. Pulsar was as well just what I needed and honestly, much more...
My next step was to search for REAL knowledgeable people to build up my system, so I searched hard! Some were just opportunists, students from university building any kind of computer for little money, others were musicians looking a way of helping themselves, but without real inside knowledge on the matter. Others again, were business kind of people telling you that their HP computer was exactly what you were looking for… Swindlers and nothing else! I really dislike this way of getting a life!
Fortunately, a very good and extremely useful magazine called Computer Music - http://www.computermusic.co.uk/main.asp - was first released in the UK, there you could find all sort of advices on how to find the proper computer.
Little by little, under the method of “discrimination”, arrived to one of the best builders in the world, these people, apart of being very responsible are extremely knowledgeable on what they do: They build up Computer Systems FOR MUSIC and period! They do but this, so they are very specialised on what they do. They are called Area 51UK, and they rock! If you are looking for a system that rocks, have a go with them.

Most people buy their systems, and then choose a Sound Card to go. AREA 51UK guys advice you about which is the best Sound Card for you, depending on your needs, and then build the System up absolutely based on your Sound Card! This is the intelligent procedure.
Four years have gone so far and I've still only four DSP, I own a Pulsar I Plus. What can I say? It's the BEST, the very BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! buy I've never ever made in my whole life! I just would like to have another 6 DSP, and that's all I need for being able to work without any restriction.
