Well I was being coy myself.
I always say "well that's how they do it on the big jobs" as a polite way to remind folks they aren't at Carnegie Hall, it's a shithole, a sawdust joint, girls with tattoos that drink whiskey and want to fight..
Which actually I prefer over the big jobs.
I like smelling my audience...

So the A16 Ultra sounds better? I only have a 2 input mic/guitar pres. I've never heard the Behringer, but used to have one of their cheap FX units and it was pretty bad...

Germans are good at engineering and cost control on the very crappiest stuff, as well as the very best stuff.
I do expect Behringer to continue raising the quality up as the facility in a tax free zone of CHina is huge.
Plus Ulli B. is a decent keyboard player and someone we should admire.
And also Holger and Juergen too.

A32 will rule the skies for years to come.
I can't wait to see what treats with the DSP chip(s) they put together.
Since Juergen programs DSP as well as engineers, anything will be great.
The guy put the very best Headphone amp you can imagine in the XITE-1.
My IEMs sound like heaven with the XITE-1 @ 48k.

there is a reason that the A16 and A32 are a lot more expensive than the Behringer. more expensive doesn't always mean better, but when it's more expensive than the cheapest option, it usually does...

yes, the A16s use op-amps. discrete electronics would be an ungodly expense and would make the unit huge....

Sure, put a SpaceF FAT everywhere.
I use those little Fat-II S devices/algo II w/input cranked to -1 db and it actually rounds out signals like a Tube would.
Adds grease to whatever you send it.

Even works well in an AUX slot where you can pump some into every channel like Nebula users do.
Put one pre STM PlateX in an AUX you'll see what I mean.

i don't agree, the latest behringer model new from the shop sounds better than the a16s i heard. not talking ferrofish, never heard those but assuming they sound great, talking the old cw a16s.

newer AD/DA, less noise, but a little harsher and colder sounding...but it's a matter of taste, new Behringer vs A16 Ultra...
the Behringer doesn't compare with the A16 Mk2, though.

all three are more than good enough to do great work, in the hands of a good engineer.

Just the fact it looks analog will convince most flocks there's a better sound.
Personally I'd rather record a speaker with VSTi's coming out of it using an AKG C414.

Haven't heard them but just by looking the 2nd one sounds the best as it's got lots of knobs for scientists and shit.
