Well, we know, he has told us so, he is very busy and not coming much around here anymore, so I guess I will have to send him a mail with this link, so he can see it. But there is no rush for this change, it's ok, as long as the kitchen man is away... of course...

Yes, as Nestor has pointed out, I essentially have no time at all to keep up with reading the forums- my time is completely taken up by my work, my family, my band, and other projects. So my role here has devolved to something like chief janitorial staff I keep the lights on, take out the trash, and act as locksmith and bouncer at the door. I periodically have to change the forum registration countermeasures to prevent the influx of spambots, kitchen salesman, etc.

When I have gone on vacation, or have missed some firefight, Nestor has been invaluable in assisting.
Thanks so much Nestor for all the help, and I wish you all the focus and freedom you desire, and success on your project- can't wait to hear it!

I completely agree that GaryB is the right choice to be a moderator. He is smart, responsible, level-headed, and generous with his time and knowledge. I am not at all worried about any conflict of interest.

I have kept planetz alive because, while I was the one who created it (over 15 years ago!), I know it is all of you that have made planetz into something special. I didn't want to let you all down by abandoning it or by allowing someone to take over who wouldn't stick with it.

Now, this may be a good initial transition towards Gary taking over complete control and migration of the planetz forums (something we have discussed in the past), with my role shifting to something more like a consultant-on-call. Gary has certainly proven his enduring passion and dedication to the platform, and to these forums, and I expect that the site would continue to evolve and prosper under his leadership.

+2 .. All the tech support that he's done alone on his own time can't be compared to by anyone. Helped a lot of people get threw some dark times. As well as just being a huge contributer in keeping the forum alive with conversation, etc. Garyb's perfect for the job I'm sure!

And he will soon have 19.000 posts...., this is an amazing lot! And I guess a huge percentage of these posts have been to help others....
