if you got an XITE, you wouldn't need the other cards. the wonderful thing is that the old cards will work just like always. v5 doesn't tax the system any more than any of the older versions. :)

I would like to use them for instruments/fx in XTC mode, but i reckon that these SHARC DSPs get old really fast like normal CPUs.
Would they be able to run a few instruments with the new v5 software?

I'm also thinking of buying the bigger version of xite-1. Could I use it together with the two cards? And would they be more than a drop in the ocean compared to the new xite?

thx :)

The older cards work perfectly fine. The chips don't 'get old'.
I'm still running 12 year old cards in my system.

The Xite and PCI cards can run SEPARATELY on a system, but not together.
In other words I've been able to get two instances of Scope running side-by-side (Xite and PCI), but not connected together.
(This may change someday though).

The Xite has a lot more DSP power than the Pulsar I or 2, but 10DSP is a nice chunk of power for running effects, synths, etc.

You didn't waste your money.

If you can get them ever to reply to email so you can register your old cards. I'm giving up on them. Bye.

I was looking here for some advice on re-registering my old Luna car and this sums up my experience of dealing with Sonic Core.

I'm posting this in the hope that someone from sonic core (or someone who know a man etc.) will read this and care.

I recently had a hard drive failure and lost my allkeys file (.rgy is still on my backup drive). When i upgraded my system to Win7 i decided to try Scope 5 as it is recommended by Sonic Core for discontinued products. After downloading and installing Scope 5 i imported my rgy file but it throws an import error (i was half expecting this as it warns on the website) so following their instructions i sent of an email to sonic core to re-register my card. I promptly got an automated reply saying my email had been recieved and they would reply as soon as possible. 4 days later and still nothing so i sent another polite email asking whether they could give me a follow up. Nothing. A week later and another email and still no replay.

This is possibly the worst customer service i have EVER had the pleasure of. Judging by the post i quoted it's not just me who's had this experience. Are Sonic Core generally this bad? What do i have to do to get an upgrade to Scope 5?

no, there are generally a thousand emails and one guy to handle them AND two of the handful of people who work for S|C were in Anaheim, CA USA for the NAMM show for a week, last week.

there's no need to REGISTER old cards, you can just request the keyfile(which you should ALWAYS have a backup copy of). however, v5.1 will NOT work with a v5 keyfile. in order to pay the coders and technicians the thousands and thousands of dollars that it costs to develope for discontinued products, they are charging for v5.1. the good news is that if you are running 32bit, then there's no advantage to 5.1 and you can just run v5, if you have v4.5 or v5 keys. if you have keys from v4 or earlier, you must pay to use the latest software.

if you need help, you can PM me and i can help get things straightened out for you.
