Why just 2 x inserts when many more can be chained.

hi and thanks for your replies!
I fixed that little but annoying bug maus mentioned (panel always on top), and made one last mixer:
cwmix8+8. it handles 8 stereo + 8 mono channels, and it's got two inserts for each channel.
the absence of any aux' and busses allows a very compact design with minimal dsp load.
download see here.
happy new year everybody 8)

Happy New Year 2U2 Brotha' Man RoyT.......

I tried every fader and mute button via MIDI CC. 100% positive results.
This is an excellent small Kontakt mixer for me when I want to make a demo.

I can insert the Modular Mono Reverbs into the Kick, Snare and Toms for a rough mix and the mixer can hold all Reverbs too.
It helps having the SC 5.1 Room Reverb. Nobody here seems to use it but I find it to be a very realistic and warm effect. The ER's are seperate from the main space and are quite effective.
For Mono drum tracks they are perfect as one would simply disable all channels and use just the Center ( mono ) channel, and then do your drum mix in mono.
I never understood why everyb ody uses stereo kicks and snares, etc....???
I never heard one before and why add phase distortion and sample delays to an instrument that's meant for mono anyways...?
I guess I am too old school, but the workaround below delivers a powerful drum mix, as well as 8 x stereo Kontakt instruments for s really small footprinted 24 channel ASIO demo.

Thanks So Much.

Further endeavors for a small semi mastered demo where it's a heavy drum mix.
The drums have parallel processing using MovEQ and 8 x Modular Insert M Env. Followers.
The CwM 8 + 8 x 2 Mixer has Modular Insert M Mono Reverbs on Kick, Snare and Toms.
Then as a final effect the actual emulated space is created by a final SC 5.1 Room Reverb that adds the effect to the Sample Stereo Kontakt Pianos, Strings. etc.
Next I will add another semi mastered sub mix of external Hardware Analog mixed with DSP Synths.
So far this is a great way to make quick little demos.

Thanks Again,

Sorry to pick up on the bugs Roy, but I note the faders and VUs don't do anything on the 3 Auxillaries.
You do get outputs though so the sends from the channels are working OK.
Have a great new year

hi mausmuso and all,
please forgive me that I didn't explain how the aux circuitry actually works:
you only get the internal aux working if you drop an insert fx to the first (pre-eq) insert.
if not, it switches to the external sends and returns.

or, you can connect sends to returns in the project window (if you need a post-eq aux).

hope this helps.

hi it's me again Image
please download the 8+8 mixer again as there was a risk of BSOD when you load a reverb into one of the insert slots and remove it later on
sorry

Thanks for the mixers. These look really useful.

I was quite happy using the standard mixers but will give the 16-3-2 a run as my main summing mixer rather than the STM2448

I'm glad that you like it!
a little update for cwmix16-3-2:
-channel mutes now also affect channels routed to busses - a muted channel is also muted on a bus.
-the first aux channel inserts can be bypassed, by pressing the "Direct" button (above aux inserts 2+3), which means that -if pressed- it's not vital to use the first (pre-eq) insert.
-for better overview, channels can have designated colors and text.
download
have fun :)

Thanks Roy!

I like your mixers. Very very nice work!
Especially the 16-3-2 in its last version!

Thank you!

Thank you for these great devices, Roy! :)

1. Are the AUX sends in true stereo, if a pair of channel is linked and panned to stereo (first left, second right)? This is nessesary for AB stereophonic signals. It induces comb filter effects if both channels are summed to mono before...

2. What does that little knob between 'bus 3' label and the 'master' button?

3. Where are the metering points?

Greets,
Fred

hi Fred!
1. yes, all three Aux sends are true stereo (quite heavy on dsp, but..)
2. its the gain knob for the external stereo input. you can switch directly between the mixer output and an external stereo source (eg a well-mixed track of your choice), for overall eq/loudness etc comparison
3. not there! :) doubleclicking faders=0dB; on mouseover you can see dB values

Greetings! There is a possibility to unite 2 panels in one, and that isn't enough channels
