14 DSP -vs- 15 DSP system
Re: 14 DSP -vs- 15 DSP system
you can look at manufacture dates, but if the card has a z-link, Plus or Classic20 i/o plate, it's almost certainly a 2nd gen card. if iut has a 24ADAT or was converted from a 24ADAT plate, then it's almost certainly a 1st gen card.

And, if i am not mistaken, all 14DSP cards are second gen?
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.

yes, that's correct!
Re: 14 DSP -vs- 15 DSP system
If only using scope as external hardware.. Not using asio drivers, will 1gen board have higher latency then pulsar2?

if it's by itself, yes!
but latency only applies to sequencers and the like. all Scope cards, regardless of age are realtime in stand alone mode.

Thank you!
Great to know!
What could be nice is to get screenshot (both sides) of both 14-dsp and 15-dsp so we can see the different. I have asked google for such, but he is not giving me any proper picture of 2gen card on the back!

Difference is easy to spot.Missing dsp on the upper side of the card.

Re: 14 DSP -vs- 15 DSP system
I have both version, they look identical, but the 15 DSP card have 1 extra DSP chip and 2xram on both side.

Re: 14 DSP -vs- 15 DSP system
Thanks a lot for that..!!
..and just for clarification, gen 1 cards behave like gen 2 cards (ULLI) if there is a gen 2 card in the system?
..if so, will the IO on the gen 1 cards behave like gen 2 cards as well (ULLI)?
Cheers.

Re: 14 DSP -vs- 15 DSP system
yes, if there is a gen 2 card, then the system will do low latency(down to 2-3ms, i use 4ms).
the gen 1 card will decrease avaialble pci resources.....

Re: 14 DSP -vs- 15 DSP system
I would really recommend to keep them all 2.gen. the extra cash is worth it.
