Well, American uniforms made ravages in France with chicks, during WWII.
It looks like the Hero's myth is still active :D

some are heroes, some are rogues, some are ne'er do wells, some are criminals and some are just ordinary joes....

They wouldn't have been there, I can't tell what Europe would be today. They gave their life to help us.
Now don't forget people are first impressed by the uniform and then maybe, by the men themselves. This is what I meant by "a myth". 'Should have said the image.
