Yeah, there's a phantom power button so it has to have mic preamps.

I probably wouldn't use them -- it'll be sitting right above a Mackie Onyx 800R which is sure to have better preamps anyway. :)

It looks great! Can't wait to have the real thing in my studio!

yes Atom, what are they up to now 32 ins & outs? :D you can sure chose any product you like, but I might use it live. So, a little info about the preamps would be great!

well, guessing from the rendering that section might even be modular...
I really hope there's something inside exceeding the 'standard' 4580/5532 approach.
It's not a mass product anyway, so something decent before the converters would really make this unit outstanding (from competition).
We all know it's not the electronic parts defining the price of a preamp. ;)
Make it's definition of sound similiar to an Avalon U5 and the box will save me one extra K of Euros... :D

cheers, Tom

oh look who's asking too much now? :D
But it might be interesting to compare between a behringer whatever pre and a lets say a fireface800 pre, where would the xite-1 pres be positioned? Ralph? Are you guys making one of your own :o :D  :P

Yes, very nice! anybody has info on what kind of preamps the beast will be equipped with?
As i plan to get the X-ite (damn, i need more DSPs !) I will be able to compare those preamp with my P1 A-designs (quad eight sound). So, As soon as I get it, i will post my comment.... and sell one of my P1s if it sounds good enough  ... just to curb the investment a little bit

Remember that a host of "cheap" preamp available can sound very well ... I rememeber my studio project vtb1 which soudnded as good as a 600 euros preamp or the DAVs ones which are quite affordable and offer a very good (and transparent) sound.... I will soon check the quality of these preamp... Although I was initially in favour of a seperated task philosophy, the X-ite is also meant to be mobile so adding preamp offers a all-in-one high end tool. This model had to be launched for sure !

There enough in this box to keep everyone happy for sure.

I think TC, and Presonus will be shaking in their boots when this gadget hits the street.

Good luck with this product Sonicore

Hopefully they'll use something like Burr Brown INA137s or THAT 1512 chips for the preamps.

totally off topic, but: what are good substitutes with the same pin configuration for the 4580/5532?

thanks! :D

Does it have active or passive cooling?

Good guess - the XITE preamps actually have SSM 2019 input amplifiers.

Nice, I think SPL use SSM2019s in their stuff. It means for those who aren't technical that the Xite-1 preamps should have a sound that rivals some very nice mid-range Mic pres. Think SPL, Grace 101, Joemeek etc.

These look quite good.

Then again someone in the Gearslutz forum recommended against using them as a drop in replacement for the 5534.

That's good, because the mic inputs on the Onyx box are all in the back -- so Scope's inputs on the front will make it very handy in a pinch.

Thanks for all the info, Ralf!
