Pentium core 2 5200 with no fan 4gb RAM
Supermicro C2SBE
scope with 14 dsp
scope with 15 dsp
pulsar 2 with 7 dsp
Runs only Scope, scope SDK, Firefox and vg-99 USB editor.
internet and local network enabled.
Xeon 3210 quad core(or something like that) 4GB some cheap MATX ASUS motherboard cant remember the name.
sequencers
EMU 1212 for the ADAT connection to scope. <has a midi interface
Monome software + driver
Virus TI software + driver <has a midi interface
Maschine software + driver <has a midi interface
midex8 driver <main midi interface
standalone midi editors for mopho and evolver
behringer bcf-2000 in midi, not USB mode, their driver causes lag.
internet disabled, networked.
extra midi interfaces can be used to run stand-alone editors and midi programs for monome without using the dreaded "virtual midi cable and timing crapifier"
but you have to use real midi cables.

Which BCF2000 driver are you using? And which firmware?

I had all the latest firmware and driver. now i use it with MIDI instead of USB, and it works great (it is not sharing the MIDI port with anything)valis wrote:Which BCF2000 driver are you using? And which firmware?
Re: how much power have your system=?
Sorry, I understood how you were using yours, I was just wondering about specific info.
They have a newer driver that attempts to hook the BCF via the usb audio class driver (v1.2.1.3) and there's an older version that uses a dll (v1.1.1.1). The newer one says something about no longer needing the dll... Just wanted to compare notes on which one you were using. Oh and also whether you were using the normal midi modes, or using in HUI/Mackie mode instead (I've found those modes almost unusable with many applications via usb, haven't tried via midi.)

Re: how much power have your system=?
yes i am using mackie mode for cubase. it is a great setup for the price.
except i am not using the on-screen display yet, so i cant really get the most of it.
Obviously using USB would make that easier,
But hopefully with all these midi in and out i can figure out a way without using a virtual midi cable thing.
That "new" driver is from 2005, i tried that as well.
the bcr is fine untill it has to coexist with other things, then it just seems to cause loss of timing.
especially bad for MIDI sync, and since im selling my spectralis maybe i can use it again.
its quite low on the list of stuff to do though, since its working

Re: how much power have your system=?
The mackie mode is the problem, that explains what I was wondering.
I also found that it worked fine over midi but with the usb connection (any of them) it lags horribly, it actually brought Ableton to its knees on an older dual cpu machine. I haven't tried it on my new machine as I didn't really buy it for that mode (I bought it on impulse since I couldn't find a peavey locally.)
Thanks for the info, I just wanted to make sure there weren't some hidden issues with their 'new' dll-less driver or something else I was unaware of. I always get 'midi device reported an error' using this driver when I first turn the device on (or when windows is logged in and loads the driver, whichever is first). It doesn't seem to corrupt the midi datastream at all and works fine otherwise as a usb device, but I have not a great opinion of behringer's drivers.
Anyway sorry for the segue, back to the thread topic....
I've got 10 dsps, a 2nd gen Pulsar2 & a 1st gen Pulsar1. Have no issues running the two together and use them in a 2nd machine.

PC1
Pentium4 3GHz
1GB RAM
2 x Scope Pros = 30DSP
3 x Powercore (2xPCI 1xPCIMKII)
PC2
Intel Core2 6600 2.4GHz
2GB RAM
Frontier Design Dakota and Montana sound cards
2 x Powercore (1xPCI 1xPCIMKII)
4 x UAD1
13 slot Magma Chasis housing Powercore and UAD cards
I have a two PC setup. PC1 is used as my main DAW. I sequence using Cubase VST5 and I am usually running drum VSTis along with various Powercore plugins such as Virus, VStation and DCoder (just bought secondhand). I use my Sonic Core cards for mixing plus running a few instruments if DSP allows. On PC2 I run Cubase SX2 as a plugin host. On PC2 I run various native plugins plus UAD and Powercore plugins. PC2 is really my "synth station". On both PCs I use EnergyXT as a VSTi to give me more control over the plugins that I use. PC2 audio outs via ADAT into PC1. I love the options that using Sonic Core, Powercore and UAD1 cards give me. I love using Scope as a mixing environment with fantastic compressors, filters, EQs and effects. I like a lot of the Sonic Core synths but I find that my Scope resources are better used for mixing. I love Powercore's Virus and VStation plus the Sony plugins and Filtroid (filter) is great. Haven't had a chance to try out my D-Coder yet. UAD's compressors and EQS are magical!
The things is, as my setup has improved significantly (in terms of processing power) over the last couple of years, I am spending less and less time actually using it and spend more time downloading new plugins/updates and fixing things!
I really need to spend time away from the internet.

Is that what you meant?
I have 3 X PulsarII (18 DSP)
PC is a AMD64 dual 2.4GHz
Also i forgot about:
Luna 3 DSP
AMD Athlon 1200 1gb SDRAM 133MHz
(very old but does the job for my SCSI sampler wave transfering duties, the Luna is used for basic audio auditioning)
