I had this exact same problem when I first tried an Athlon x2. Audio playback would freeze, MIDI would keep going. The problem was that the Scope drivers didn't like running in APIC mode at IRQs higher than 16. The solution was to install slightly older 3.1b drivers, which for some reason worked. I can upload them to a server if you want so you can download them and try them out!

OK, the 3.1b drivers are located at:

Hope that helps!

Try to use ASRock Conroe865PE motherboard instead of 965pe one with your multi scope system. It's cheap and drive c2d very well (if not overclocked more than 285x4 FSB ) with multiscope system installed.
May be problem with 3xScope system on 965pe is due chipset itself. Some other post also state that 2xScope system works on 965pe fine.
Also you can try to use windows 2003 server (sp1) OS. It's excellent OS, better than xp. This OS using different kernel. So may be it could help

Any updates on this?
I am having a similar issue with an AMD X2 AM2.
It can work for hours and hours with a single midi triggered synth device.
Then randomly the synth continues to play over MIDI, but I lose mouse and keyboard amd I've noted that the cpu usage goes to 100% and stays there, even though no other apps are running.

Hey Comrade JGR,
You aren't using that OC'd rig live are you? I wish I could buy a Q6600 CPU and OC that baby to perform like the QX6800, but I 'm nervous about OC'ing live.
Since these CPU's are based on the old P3, and Pentium M's, I know they won't get hot w/ voltage tweaks, but the FSB tweaks seem risky.
The 965 chips have a memory controller upgrade that was not available in the 975's till recently. I use a stock Intel mobo w/ the 965 and a 3 card set up that is trouble free. I would die if my Scope DAW's crashed live. But the Q6600 is perfect for VSTi's. I use an E6400 that let's me load tons of Gigastudio 3 libraries, but I am adding more and more stuff @ my live gigs and need to go quad core to suffice my greed.
Tell me your voltage, and FSB tweaks if you could please. I want to buy the Q6600 now that it's 500 USD, and start experimenting w/ Scope, and VSTi's. The 965 seems to make every mobo out there happy.
