I am suspicious that there are some problems with rev1 and not the later ones.
I never got more than 4 Masterverbs on a P4 board with a generation one card, whatever I tweaked...
I get 5 MVs only on an ASUS TUSL-C (Intel 815) and that's a reknown chipset for it's PCI throughput, so 4 is perfectly ok for that type of card.
Wasp is right that only a generation two card can solve the problem, but I'd also prefer one of the 6-chip boards, Luna was always kind of an unwanted child (imho - so to say), only in the market for competive pricing etc...

Siriusbliss, you probably didn't have any STW Series-100 reverbs on those cards ;)

cheers, Tom

I'm sorry, but I don't recall, and I don't have the machine open in front of me to check it for revision number.

I DO recommend checking the STDM edge connector contacts to make sure they are clean (I clean them with a pencil eraser), wiggle the boards in the slots, check your power supply to see if it's 350 or 400W (or better) to handle the power overhead of the boards on the buss, check the ORDER of how the boards are installed. I had my Pulsar I in the second slot, SRB next, then the PowerSampler (Luna). Keep the boards on the inner rows away from AGP and network stuff, etc. etc.

Do you get PCI overflow immediately upon starting Scope, or only after adding a bunch of modules such as reverbs and 'heavy' synths?

and no, I have no STW reverbs on my system due to their reputation for being resource hogs <hehe>. However I DO have the bxdigital mastering EQ, which is a HEAVY module resource-wise, and the system handles it ok (although I know I'm pushing it)

That's all I can think of this point.

Good luck,

Greg
