 ED ... My mistake, in the confusion I hadn't realised that the 4.5 OS IS FREE.

.... oops

Scope 4.5 is FREE Shayne. Pointed out by Grok on the other thread. Download it, install it & explore for changes at no cost

Have fun

Shroomz, you're just as smart as the dude on eBay selling Powerbooks for 5 Euros, while charging 1k for shipping - to spare the commission...
how long do you think they'll let this happen ?
and what will be the consequences... in this case ?

celebrate whatever you like, Tom

Anyway, the new SFP icon is nice, and it seems to work nicely.

My humble apologies ... no offence meant, but maybe Creamware meant it to be this way.

> You download the OS.

> If you wish to take the upgrade option (which is a bargain of course) you buy it from CW, wait for your keys in the mail then install 4.5 with new keys.

> If you don't wish to take the software upgrade option right now,(only available for 4.5 OS ) You can still install 4.5 & use it with exactly the same set of keys you have now... not much will change it seems.

> You gain the OS update free & pay for the xtra 'optional' software bundle.

This makes sense Tom. I don't think it's wrong, they must've thought that it wouldn't need explaing to us. It did need explaining though.

Anyway this is how it should be. The concept of paying for OS ver 4.5 did not feel right at all. To me, it all makes sense now

... and no offence meant BTW Tom. We're all adults & nobody is disputing your knowledge of the system... You help many people here on Z & we all appreciate that, so please don't take my odd cheaky or sarcastic comment to heart if you can help it ...

I do not take anythink to heart, Shroomz.
It just doesn't make sense to discuss about respect for developers and a company in a difficult market segment with people who loose their mind over a potential 98 Euro freebie.

It's exactly what will make this platform go down - and I certainly don't write this (here and the sh*t I removed) for the 25th time to celebrate myself.

there is no update for this product because there is no market, and a market is made by customers, not wafflers (nice word).
... even Andre and Ralf have (probably) a rent to pay and might appreciate a christmas bonus as well.

cheers, tom

Ok, my mistake, you can install v4.5 for free, I just have to solve a little annoyance with my installation (little conflict, I think), but it works.

DON'T BE AFRAID, it's the truth, v4.5 update (not upgrade) is free for v4.0 owner (it's the v4.0 key that is used for v4.5).

Fair policy, from Creamware !...

Whatever Tom.

We will definately buy the new software update bundle when we can afford it (yes, like Shayne we couldn't afford 98 euro right now)

It's a bargain special offer on the optional software bundle, there's no disputing that.

It's just very odd the way it's all transpired over the last few days. People saying bite the bullet & buy the upgrade if you want the new OS ... wrong, sorry. That's what felt so wrong for us, but it seems CW possibly did not mean to mislead us into thinking we *had* to upgrade. On the contrary, It looks as if the OS is FREE as it should be & the new software bundle is optional.... the way it should be.

ILL COMMUNICATION .... that's all.

C'mon, Tom, don't be so depressive.

If ever Creamware had wanted to make the v4.5 a paying update, they had created a NEW v4.5 key. This is not the case, the key is the v4.0 key. You can buy it if you want (knowing that you're on v3.1)

Downloading the v4.5 and installing it absolutely doesn't mean that there will be no 98€ "v4.5 upgrade offer" taken later. Because this offer is REALLY interesting for most of the users that haven't these plugins.

As usual Creamware doesn't know how to communicate, or perhaps they really don't have any time for this. That's why these few days of confusion have happened.

Now that all is clear, everyone can celebrate, and looking at the current Creamware's NEW cards v4.5 offer, there will be soon (or later) new customers for these cards. NEVER Creamware has been so competitive on these products.

So c'mon, look at the "positive" part of all this !...

Cheers,
Grok

Is the expression "98 euro freebie" not somewhat of a contradiction in terms Tom ?

A freebie is FREE is it not ?

...Thanks for the free Scope 4.5 OS Creamware !!!

I'm not going to waste my time downloading it (and using up their bandwidth) if there are truly no changes. Are all the software timestamps the same? It's still a .zip file, right?

The only difference that I can see between 4.0 and 4.5 is the SBC and Pro12 devices and their DSP files (three dsp files I think).

/dave

edit - more like 38 dsp files

Shayne, it looks like there are *some* changes, will report back when we know exactly what, but at the moment the main addition we found was on instalation where there was a new XTC I/O Enabler page just before the finish/start Scope option at the end... Will check timestamps etc.

There are a lot of different *.dsp files, much more than three, so I'm not going to waste my time detailling this. Do it by yourself.

Useful enough?...
