It's Firefox 1.06.

This is not in an XP window. It's in Firefox and you always have an icon (sometimes blank) but if you don't have a blank one you could delete the title and save space. If it is blank, you wouldn't know what it was if you deleted the title.

I can't say I ever remember there being an icon for Planet Z in any browser I've used (in Firefox I just get a generic 'page' icon in the tabs). I do however remember seeing browsers get confused and mangle up the icons in the bookmarks (IE especially).

I think it might be a bug in Google Desktop Search. Spacef do you use that?

nope... not in firefox (in ie only). but Google is the search engine selected in the search bar of firefox (but i do not have downloaded any extra google stuff).
I also remember that there was a confusion at a time and a false manipulation made me open IE + Fox at the same time... if i remember correctly, it happened after that "event"..
edit : i remember that it was msn messenger which caused ie to open...

do you know if users can make their own "favicons" at home when the site doesn't have one ?

I don't think so...I'd imagine that would be information passed in the http stream.
