I'm seriously interested to Wolf's SpEQtrum but I find his interface less intuitive and ergonomic than other counterparts.
In example, I own a couple of UAD-1 and I'm actually without a good versatile EQ like "Cambridge" or Sonalksis "SV-517 Stereo EQ". I find Wolf's spEQtrum very actractive for the features (and obviously the sound!) but I'm in trouble because I like more i.e. this interface layout:

The spEQtrum is too large, the graphic section too "invadent" compared to the knobs section (more important to me!)
Yes, I know that the spectrum feature is rilevant in the dimensional choice. Maybe could be useful a version without spectrum, only EQ with the hi-end spEQtrum sound and setting features. (8 band stereo eq is not exactly the same of spEqtrum)
I think that a redesign could put spEQtrum above the rest of contender.
Some people ends to prefer specific things like Neve or API EQ because the easy and quick usage. spEQtrum is often cheaper and more powerful than many others products but (I've tried a lot of times in a year the spEQtrum demo) I cannot find it ergonomic.
Sorry for my "strange" interface point of view (over the sound quality) but I'm a Graphic Designer
I cannot decide, in these days, to buy an serious EQ between: UAD, Sonalksis, spEQtrum or URS.
I'm tempted from Digitalaudiosoft's EQs but I really don't need another "specific" EQ (I own the UAD's Pultec, wow!)
Now I NEED a powerful & universal EQ like spEQtrum.
Wolf, do you think that it's a hard work to redesign the interface?
Or just redraw the knob section bigger with bigger handy knobs.
Or feature the possibility to switch off the graphic section for a serious space saving (I wish use it XTC mode). Thanks.

Music Manic, in fact I only have a pdf-manual for spEQtrum, where the mentioned stuff is written. I'm not writing a book

But after the drag&drop installation it should also be found in your scope directory in the manuals folder or directly available via the LiveBar.

If I understand you correct, you better like twiddling with knobs than with the graphic representation itself ?
Or in another way said you would like to have the eq curve less big and therefor bigger knobs ?

Your impression about the interface is quite right: the main point in UI design was to make easy fiddling with the eq curve possible as you can change three parameters (gain, frequency and bandwidth) at the same time this way. This makes it easier and faster to find the right spot and is hardly possible with knobs.
The surface size itself derives from the fact, that a big graphic is easier to manipulate and to target (especially later in the evening
However, you can even zoom in up to one dB viewsize to make very fine adjustments in an easy way. As you might know, the scope knobs (regardless of their size) are quite rough regarding resolution and one has to use the keyboard to make fine movements .. and then you don't see any knob movement because of the graphics.
Finally it was mentioned in the device/module wishlist area, that an eq with graphical interaction is wanted

The less knobs, the easier the usage, that's for shure. However I also like to have a fast overview over my settings by looking shortly at a graphical representation.

The redesign workload depends heavily on what needs to be changed exactly.
Resizing the eq curve window would put me into real problems
Replacing the knobs, i.e. making them bigger and putting them below the curve could be a possibility .. but I somehow like the slim, streamlined surface and it would get really big, if big knobs are placed below.
Decoupling both into separate windows would be an idea then ..
I could also provide a knob-only version with only a subset of famous and not so famous different bandwidth-gain dependancy settings .. however, this would somehow defeat the purpose of having all under your fingertips .. mmh

What are your opinons out there ?

Your idea about decoupling in separate window seems to be amazing to me, because it allow to enlarge a little the knobs, leaving the graphical part intact. This solution is the best flexible compromise for all kind of user needs. (I suggest a layout for knobs similar to UAD's Cambridge: horizontal develope for the different bands and vertical develope for each band parameters)
Also the subset of famous bandwidth-gain dependancy settings is a wonderful (and fundamental) idea too.
This because your EQ with "famous subsets" can easy emulate all others EQ available for Creamware!!!
