oooo, Huub! I just answered (with a quote) a message on page 3 of a thread and my answer appeared on page 4 but I was sent to page 3 after the answering! Strange, isn't it?

I bet you got to page 1, because you "wrote your reply from page 1" - and the reply, where you say it didn't work - it actually worked ... if you waited again.

John, the next step is for the page to open up scrolled down to the new reply. There are many PHP boards that do this and I think you are more than able do make it happen here too.

This would reqire that independant id's be generated for each post, and an html id tag would be added to the tr or td tag of encapsulating each post. Certainly possible and other boards have this code already, but only John would know how much work this is to implement, mostly due to each post on the page or in the database (depending on how robust the implementation is) needing a definate id.
Keep in mind that John is using an older version of phpbb that was heavily modified to allow for the device/preset/song areas. The reason a lot of other sites have these features is because it takes about 15 minutes to backup & install a new phpbb version, unless you have a custom skin that you've made which might require a bit of tweaking.
In John's case he has to integrate such changes by hand...ack!
