Freezing problems using Pulsar 2 on new P4 DAW
Sorry, but You didn't disable what you mostly had to...borrow a cheap mouse and keyboard for an hour and do the test. The "germans" are probably working so hard as you can't imagine now, it seems that you are lazy instead, mentally speaking. Sorry, but calm down and do as you have been told, before blaming anyone. On 2004-04-18 07:17, Keyhan wrote:
Now I've tested to disable all USB ports except the Root Hub and the one used by the mouse (couldnt find any usb-ps2 connector). Darn![]()

Why don't they answer the mails I send CW Support? Lazy germans!

Alfonso,
No. I'm not blaming anyone without a reason to do so. I've send them somehere like 4 email during the winter/spring. I just received one reply to a question I had. So yes, I'm blamig their support. And I think I have the right to do so. If I want help via e-mail I expect to receive help at least within a week or so (And yes I know they have had huge economic problems with the company lately).
Of course I'm lazy 2. But It's damn frustrating when you buy a new computer just to make music and then not have the oppurtunity to. So I hope you can understand mé as well =)
My friend just told me he had a PS2 mouse for me.. so let check if it works better.
Sicerly yours,
Keyhan

Why not give them a call?
When I had trouble I just called them, they answered the phone like 3rd ring and spent an hour on the phone with me lol, unfortunately when I got my phone bill I was not so happy, but atleast I got a person on the phone, he was nice and helpfull aswell and sent emails to some of the top dogs for me aswell
It cant hurt, sept maybe your wallet for the cost of the calls.
Cheers!

my guess is since you haven't tried the things that have been suggested to you, there's not much that cw can do to help you. there should be no reason to eliminate usb entirely. usb 2.0 should be disabled, but the other ports should be fine. the mouse and kb COULD be a problem, but....
cubase sx is a resource HOG. i've never seen anything like it...(sounds great though!) i've seen the exact screen freeze you speak of MORE than once and the problem was always midi! it's veruy easy to get midi feedback loops especially when syncing to an external sequencer. active sensing and sysex will often cause problems....
if you KNOW the rest of your hardware is o.k. and you have everything set right and you have tried all the suggestions here, then go to the tips and tricks section, see the posts on install order and setting up xp(again if nessessary) and the reinstall everything from scratch(after formatting).
i have two computers with sx and xp and have set up several others, the asio drivers work GREAT! if your computer is set up properly it MUST work.
good luck!
p.s. how about software conflicts? using antivirus?

GaryB, you´re the man... I think I solved the problem now.. I'm not quite sure... It seems that it was wrong with the midi all the way... strange, cuz my midi controller (yamaha cs2x) did work just fine with my PIII but now it seems to f*ck up everything.. i turned MIDI down and cubase runs well. so it's not the audio streeming.. it could be something wrong with my midi interface on the pulsar card? however, if anyone know how i can get around the problem in a free or at least cheap way, please tell me..
never had this midi problems before... as i said earlier, even the Native instruments stand alone synthesizer (reaktor) freezed my computer using MIDI. It didnt matter if I disabled the USB controllers.
so all help from you guys would be useful. thanks again!

Just a thought....Steinberg SX is now up to v2.02. Try downloading this. Also make sure you use the Midi Port Ignore thing....just drag it into the main Cubase folder, and disable any Midi port saying '(Emulated)' inside Cubase. Also disable Microsoft Wavetable (or whatever it's called)....don't know if that'll solve it but these (virtual ?)ports just cause havoc so get rid.
Irie ites Keyhan !!!
You can detect if the Yamaha CS2x sends active sensing if you load a device called MIDI MONITOR and connect the Pulsar midi source port to it in SFP. Open the surface for the MIDI MONITOR and you'll definetly see if there is some active sensing going on
If you have active sensing going on and don't have the option to disable it in your CS2x, then you can allways filter it out by using the MIDI FILTER device, by connecting it between the Pulsar MIDI source and sequencer destination.
If you allready knew this then just dissregard from my post.
I had a Roland...30 something.....anyway i used it as my master midikeyboard.
It sent some kind of "hold" parameter like crazy into my DAW. I couldn't use it at first. Cubase completely freezed. Couldn't figuure it out. A friend of mine had the same keyboard and told me what to do. i listened to his "explanation" that actually didn't explain it. .....i actually had to go and by a sustain pedal, reverse the polarity on it, and jack it up to the keyboard and it stoped sending! There was no other way to disable it !!!

you describe the same problem like mine, since i have changed to new system configuration,On 2004-04-18 05:31, Keyhan wrote:
No bluescreen, the desktop freezes and there is nothing to do about it... the sound is fucked up 2. It sound like a looped bassdrum in 240 bpm everytime the computer freezes.
i don't remember anything like this at my old config.celeron 1300,
i have USB midi keyboard and i have tried to disable it, but this is not the prob.anyway,
my config.
P4 2.8HT
512MB RAM
mobo ASUS P4c800 deluxe
2x Luna II + 1x Pulsar XTC
ati radeon 9600pro 256mb
cubase + sfp4
i have disabled all onboard stuff, i don't have anything overclocked,
was the same thing with my other mobo Intel 865PERL, so mobo is not the prob. here,
i also have tried with PC standard mode or ACPI or disabling HT, but nothing changed,
i could work in cubase for 5 hours or more, sometimes freezes earlier,
but remembering that when working in old config. celeron 1300 socket 370, with same cw cards and same seq. program, nothing freezes,
i'm little angry, because with newest technology i have more prob. than with old one,
there sould be like WINXP music system or something just for audio platform....
maybe in another dimension

Strange, I have a friend who had the same problems as you, and he uses a 2x2 as well and still had the freeze problem! On 2004-04-20 09:42, Keyhan wrote:
Okay guys, I've solved the freezing problem now with a new MIDI interface (MIDISPORT 2x2)... nice.. now I'm a musician again!![]()
I've got a 4x4 and have never had a freeze what so ever, just a bunch of snap, crackle and pop when recording!
