The contrast is still not good ( for me ) on the oscillators for instance, whitey background + white text + white lines on knobs = my eyes will really hurt very fast !!!!
The right side is okay, I favor uniform dark grey, less distracting than those "effects".
Do you have the brightness and contrast set at extremes on your monitor?
None of the whites are actually true whites -- however, I find the current contrasts useful for making the controls "pop" on the surface for easy navigation.
Ah well, I'll never be able to please everybody.
If I do as you say here then I will get others who who say "now everything is too uniform and confusing".
It's always a question of compromise and I certainly made a big change based on your previous suggestions, which I found useful... I like the surface-look much better now after adjusting the overall contrast.

Ah ! simultaneous posting !
No, no ! Arturia makes the best GUIs around ! look at the modular, you have no ideas of the values of the knobs !
haven't we done the simultaneous posting thing before?

Ah ? we did ? possible !
No, my monitor is not set on maximum shine !
Yes, they are greys but I prefer the lower right greys
Indeed, I'am afraid, it will be impossible to please everyone.
Otherwise I won't be able to buy it until next month, I was struck by a rather harsh electricity bill !

OK, just updated the screenshot again to show the latest attempt to have things not be eye-straining... I've tried for a softer look without as much contrast/ shadey-stuff. I think everything is even clearer now? Definitely more uniform. The control text certainly "pops" even better than before.

It's just fine for me !

Though, the presetlist seems on fire ... and the OP 8 could be a tad more flashy like before ( minor cosmetic detail ).
How about DSP use ?
I'am waiting eagerly for the demo sounds and demo !

I'll bet it looks better in plugin form. jpegs tend to make small details look yucky.
Looks like a supercool beasty stephen!

Yeah, i'm not 100% happy with the new OP-8 logo or the preset list button, either. I'll change these, I'm sure. I also want to add a "current preset" text display on the surface at the top right.
the compressed jpg does munch this up a bit, though.

I think you need to make it 'skinable'!
To me, it looks brown and muddy now...much harder on my eyes than the more metallic version.
Offer it in two 'finishes' perhaps? Or...pay an extra $10 for a custom paint job

the brownish/ muddiness is from the jpg compression, it doesn't look quite this way "in the flesh". you will probably like how it actually looks better.

no... I value all these contributions, that's why I put these things out there before they are done! I want users to have a finished product that they will want to use all the time.

You've actually already answered the only other question I had, which was regarding whether the text fields were directly editable.
When do you think you might have some demo sounds available?

"Approved" stamp !

The area around distortion, feedback and ringmod is bright but since they are big knobs and just in this area, I can handle that.

I'm adding a couple more important features, so I'm going to hold off on the MP3s until the "insides" are more complete...

This soft red is okay for me, a hard red would have been a straight no !

Contrast is better and I agree with Spacef, works fine in dim light.
