I agree, initially I was very put off by the Emagic purchase by Apple as I had just finished spending a lot of money upgrading my studio to be Logic-central and was 2-3 months from purchasing a Logic Control. Suddenly it seemed as if I would have no more bugfixes or features, the Logic Control would wind up being a poor purchase and I joined in the rest of the Logic PC users' fray railing against apple.
Fastforward 2 years later and 5.51 still works great (and uses FAR less cpu than the new SX/Nuendo for the same plugin & track count), Logic Control is now rolled into "Mackie Control Universal" which I had only hoped to have as some aftermarket mod voiding my warranty, and the G5's may be a bit underpowered next to a PC but the prices are falling (compared to old dual G4's) and Logic is getting stable on OsX.
The only other thing that put me off was purchasing ALL the plugins that I have on PC (I only own exs24 for logic). Now that Logic will have everything active by default in the Pro version that reduces my barrier to be functional on a G5 quite a bit, making it more attractive. Perhaps not blackmail, but this studio will probably not be all-software for many many years and Logic still has its advantages.
Now they just need to release a Sounddiver OsX properly (current version runs under an Os9 'compatibility' mode complicating things).
