What -- CW doesn't make Scope D/P anymore???? Then is the platform dead as far as developers are concerned?

What about custom DSP atoms? Nobody who makes native devices is going to be interested if they can't port their custom algorithms over to SFP.

Regardless, this is really good news -- a new DK will spark new interest in any case. And a Noah DK would also be a good draw.

I don't think that the majority of developes uses 'custom algorithms'.
Most is fairly common math stuff, which can probably be much better expressed in DP than in C code.

For that kind of calculations even the sequence of operators matters, even if that's mathematically irrelevant.

But to mess with the Sharcs on the assembler level is something about 1 out of 10000 programmers is capable to do, seriously.

Did anyone notice that CW Frank replied to this thread at all?

That means that CW now knows that BBE is interested.. So if nothing happens, that means that CW isn't interested.. I would imagine anyway..

ehhh ... it's silly to hypothesize about such things really. The only thing we know about CW's business is what they choose to make public. We may not always understand their motives but I give them infinite credit for keeping the company afloat all these years.

I have my own theory: there's not enough business here to entice the major players. If CW was a household name like ProTools or Cakewalk, believe me, there would be a lot of majors involved.

Ya know - as I'm starting to pay more attention to the whole world of VST & Direct X now, one thing is apparent: There aren't huge gobs of choises there either! I really hadn't paid much attention to any of that before (kinda stuck in the tripleDAT bubble). Now that I'm looking around more, I'm not convinced it's more rosy on the other side of the fence. I expected to see dozens and dozens of hi-profile companies making VST/DirectX plug-ins. I can point to maybe a dozen or so. Or am I missing something? If so, please set me straight.

the only thing stopping a bbe device as i see it,is no developer willing to make the device.cw owners who think that their cards are great just need to spread the word and the userbase will expand and others will be interested in releasing products for sfp.

I've been told you can still download every possible VST off the net for free, or close to. Development would be unsustainable in THAT environment.

Also, the market is unfortunately caught up in the name game, so having big-name developers on board would attract more potential customers.

I want to echo the piece about hoping UnitX gets going again. I use the AMPER every day, and got rid of my POD. There is truly no comparison, the AMPER stomps POD in a serious way. What I really want is AMPER for NOAH! (That would give you a better POD and a MOOG in one little easily portable box!)

AMPER is awesome, please don't give up on it!

It drives me nuts that Creamware does not reply to things like a DP development deal! What are they thinking?

I think they should work something out to supply DP licenses to developers free of charge in return for a percentage of the SFP plugins developed by that company....anything to encourage developers.

I agree with Eliam !
And DP for the " masses " ...
Could put a serious focus on CW, the top performers of Synthedit and Reaktor could be allured to greater challenges and sound quality !
I still stick by my mercenary approach, contact them and give them a DP for free if they are interested then they have to be addicted ...

And DP for the price of a PowerPulsar or so for the troopers.
Given the quality of CW sound, I prefer to say that some devices could be non stellar rather than crappy !
