I love the celebrations as much as the game. Too bad in the USA that football, hockey, baseball, and that disgusting pro wrestling even draws more money, go figure. But I was proud of the womens USA soccer team of the '90's as they made us yankee soccer boys very proud. Wish I was in Rome tonight. Congrats to all the Italians at the Z, and the French, and the Germans, as they all were outstanding IMHO.

I think there's one thing more important for Zidane than the world cup...his personnal honor, with wich one has to live one whole life.
Must have bin a dirty insultation the italian player said to him at the end of that little confrontation (just out of sight of the camera).

The refree had no choice, so no one is to blame.

The defense of Italy was perfect, if you forget about the (very litlle) offense that lead to the penalty.

Congrats Italy

The greates mistake from france was that the coach didn´t brought a second man for the forward line. Every attempt to make a goal ended in the forward line, because there were not enough men.
Beside this the france coach left a most unathletic impression to me, very arrogant.
The first thing he did after he got the medal for the second place, was to put it off into his pocket.

Congratulations Italy.

The rumour I heard was that Zidane's mother was insulted in a 'serious' & probably rather nasty comment. In retrospect, he could've just pushed him & got a yellow card. Having been given a red it's a shame he didn't headbutt the guy in the face.

Professional or not?
That´s the question...
As you can see, everybody likes him and is searching for excuses...
Is there any?
Don´t think so...

I saw an argument last weekend in the night from sat to sun between a german and a turkish guy in the centre of cologne...
After the German said "You son of a bitch" it became a fight...
Really poor!!! From both sides ...
Cheers,
Jan

the cool part is that after z's attack he gets abused by a fake fall and a kick to the groin....
insult to injury...

nothing to laugh
i always said that English folks were proud from ski jumper Eddie Edwards,
Jamaicans were pround from their bobsleigh team
and we Poles should be proud from our footy players

but the final was most boring game ever, period.
no fun when one of the teams waits for penalty shots since the beginning of second half...

According to some reports, Materazzi called him 'the son of a terrorist whore'. Charming. I hope this isn't the standard culture in Italy, although having some experience of the 'ultras' mentality, it seems like it is quite prevalent.

I have a feeling that after this World Cup people are starting to get pissed off with FIFA and their continual bullshit. Never mind the diving and cheating... when they have these campaigns to 'kick racism out of football' and then tolerating this type of culture, the whole thing just stinks.

I have to agree with what Hubird says - sometimes there are things which are above football, and taking abuse about your heritage and culture is unacceptable.

Well, it's all over now for another four years...

Italy went into 11 man defense mode after equalising. It's not the first time they've done that!

Zidane must have been pretty insulted I'd have thought to react like that. In a way, I think that he kept his head; he could easily have headbutted the chap in the face instead of the chest and caused significant injury but instead he went for the "chestbutt".

Best game for me of the championships was in fact the "wooden spoon" (3rd place) event on Saturday. With "nothing to play for", the teams played an open and exciting game.

Back to music now then..!

italy have won this final match
with attack and defense
and remember defense is the the best attack
zidane isn't new to this violent facts
isn't excusable at all
if you receive an insult
you can answer with another insult or
if you want you can stay in silence sometimes
is better stay in silence

peace

Sorry, no offense! My Dad is a Pole, and he laughed about this one!

Janni, you took it too seriously
i had pretty much fun watching our bunch of loosers loose (which was predictable) and especially the mayhem in media after that, hehe
in case you don't remember the Calgary'88 heroes
Jamaican Bobsled Team
Eddie Edwards
loved that stuff

btw, my favourite joke was before Poland-Germany game,
how many goal there will be?
Poles will shoot 4 and Germans 1

Klose 2
Podolski 2
and Ballack 1
