Ok, following Garyb's kind instructions I got myself this machine. It looks good.
10 Mv's @ 4ms 44'1 Khz before i ran out of DSP's.
Remark- this case doesn't take in my 14dsp booster card, so i need to get my saw one of this days and hack it
I'll report PCI performance again when i get my SRB in.

case: GMC H60, ATX Middle,
psu: SILENT POWER LC6420-420W

Hi all

thought I had to give my numbers:

15 Masterverbs with 3 *15 DSP cards on a Supermicro PDSBE with E6700

I had to increase the PCI latency timer to 128 to achieve this.

cheers

Michel

OK

Here içs the setup
Supermicro PDSBE
4Gig Corsair
150 gig HD Matrox RAPTORT for Halion (too noisy to my opinion)
400Gig HD Samsung (really silent)
Graph card: 7300 GS Nvidia
OS: XP home
Scope 4.5 and Scope 4.0 SDK
Cubase SX 3
3* 15 DSP Scope cards
YAMAHA SW1000 with PLG 150DX

About C2SBE: seems like the PDSBE except the new chipset. Didn't order it as it was too soon to my opinion, but it will be good around winter 2007.

cheers all

Michel

I hope Supermicro makes a P35 board by Christmas w/ 4 32bit PCI.

This is definately a great alternative to Intels DP965LT.

No frills, just solid performance, and UAD / PoCo compliant as well, sweet.

Hi Jimmy,

It exist already: C2SBE. Intel 35 chipset instead of 965 and 4 PCI

Mobo: p4c800 Deluxe
CPU:3.4ghz Prescott P4 H/T 1MB Cache, O/C to 4.08ghz
Ram: 2gig Geil

Pulsar II 6 DSP

PCI Latency set to 64

DSP Load is at 100% with 9 loaded, loading 10 causes the error: 'A capacity limit of your DSP cads has been reached'

My configuration:
Asus Commando mobo (P965 chip set), Core2Duo 6700, 4GB DDRII, 2xPulsar II, Luna (15 DSP system), Liquid Mix on Fireware. Sata Raid for system disc (2x 320 GB) and 3 more SATA discs.
Not so happy with a results of masterverb test:

12 MV on 44.1 KHz, ULLI 12 ms
12 MVPro on 44.1 KHz, ULLI 12 ms
11 MV on 48.0 KHz, ULLI 12 ms

On my previous system (NForce3) I had 17 MV, maybe even more...

Any can give me explanation of such disappointing results? I can not put together in a project my favorite reverbs P100 and A100 with Optimaster on master...

Any help or advise, please?

Thanks astroman. What can I achieve from this chipset? 15 MV or more? What is your experience?

I don't have any personal experiences - as I have a humble PIII Tualatin 1.2 GHZ on Intel 815 and only first generation boards. The trio seems to whisper 'please, don't disturb our harmony...' whenever I think of upgrading :D :P

but to me it makes sense that PCI performance isn't the biggest concern of mainboard makers today
figures published by people who benched their systems seem to point in exactly that direction. Works well, but not brillianttly.
Maybe the performance can be improved by disabling some unused stuff - as it was already mentioned there's a ton of things on modern boards...

Yes Astroman you are right, modern mainboards are builded for a very short "season". I will survive without Sata Raid, but need fireware for Liquid Mix, need network for FXTeleport, and for basically internet connection. Unfortunately I bought tons of plugins for Scope platfom, and I must make some compromises now. Thanks for your opinion. :)

well, I also have the A100/P100/CD100 STW reverbs, Celmo's TapeEmulatorReverb, SpaceF's Echo, EarlyFirst's 2016...
and I have to get along with just a 5 Masterverb-capacity
as mentioned, in the first place it's the Ambient which is a bit more demanding - so one has to make choices more carefully, but honestly that's the least problem imho :D
I don't regret any of the devices - a ton of synths here, too.

cheers, Tom

I tried everything to increase my PCI performance, unfortunately without success. Disabled RAID, Fireware, USB, LAN, and still 12 Materverbs on Asus Commando P965 chipset. Anyone tried a newer P35 chipset? Can someone give results for P35 motherboard? Is any P35 model with 4 PCI slots?

In theory, one could stuff that with 3 SRB's, 1 UADpcie and a RME, no?

Wouldn't that be a bit crowded on the pci bus?

http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=AM2NF3-VSTA

this one looks quite nice for a slave PC. Afaik NF3 was the highest performing chipset, together with a 45W 3800+ Lima this would be a nice solution (if that wasn't assrock). Gigabiyte also has similar hybrid with shitloads of pci's http://tw.giga-byte.com/Support/Motherb ... uctID=2428 .

OTOH had anybody any luck with XTC on X2 AMD AM2 or was success only with singlecores?

Abit IP35 Pro

Core2Duo E6750

2 Scope Pro and one Pulsar 1

POW nVidia chipset card

14 Masterverbs before PCI definitive overflow, it means that it starts a little before but everytime it asks for optimization and I click ok it solves it until 14. Loading the 15th didn't work.
I think that the Pulsar 1 affects the performance, but with the same cards my older Tusl2c did a MV more. I should probably try to remove the P1 and see what happens, but I'm satisfied as it is, probably I will explore some more tweaks but for now I don't want to remove the P1 card.

I think that the Standard PC way to install, with a manual assignement of IRQ's is still the best way to keep bandwidth, but with multicores it can't be used....

first tests on an intel DG33FB and E6850...

scope pro, pulsar1 and pulsar srb.
10 masterverbs, then "not enough dsp memory" on 11th. global optimization didn't help.
