should I upgrade to Scope 4.0 ?

A place to talk about whatever Scope music/gear related stuff you want.

Hi,

While I can 'activate' scope 4 (i.e. get my shop discount), I note that I have to pay 98 euro to upgrade to the actual software.

So ...

is it worth it ?

I am currently on sfp 3.1c and it works fine, although my current system is win98se and my new system will be xp ... does scope 4 have better xp support ?

Is it worth my hard-earned cash ?

Will.

Are you sure you have to pay 98 Euros??
I am pretty sure it is free. I didn't pay for mine, though I downloaded it ages ago.
Anyway for me Scope 4.0 works well.

You won't believe it, but today I finally updated my SFP from 3.1c to 4.0 on my WinXP system, and it was no problem at all.
Why wouldn't you download 4.0? There are a few bugfixes and creamware claims that 4.0 is more stable than 3.1c.
And the upgrade itself is for free, but you can buy a new plugin with the SFP upgrade for half of the actual price. I don't see the problem, these are just benefits I think.
I think the purchase of a plugin is optional and not obliged, but I see it as a great opportinity to benefit from it.

cheers,

Darce

Yep wayne, you're right.
It says it right there on the Creamware homepage.
Mr Swim, if you have a 3-DSP card I'm affraid that you'll have to spend some of your hard-earned cash, but then you'll get the Effects Package 1, the STS-4000 , and
the Modular II synthesizer, which I assume you didn't have...

To all CreamWare users owning a 3-DSP hardware such as Luna, we offer a reasonably priced upgrade to SCOPE home 4.0. For just 98 EUR (this way to the shop) you can extend your platform by the following features:

more than 30 powerful quality effects (Effects Package 1),
the STS-4000 professional sampler, and
the Modular II synthesizer.
Update your 3-DSP board (any version) to the new and even more powerful SCOPE home 4.0 system.
I have 1xpowersampler and 1xluna ... damn !

Unfortunately I had already bought both the effects package and the sts4000 synth, so the only thing I'd be getting would be modular II. But I was going to get mod III with my activation discount anyway !

i'm on xp and sfp 3.1c. i'd download 4.0(FREE!) but still scared to install....thinking if something goes wrong.
my machine works fine like anything with 3.1c. But you can update to XP. also don't forget to tune your xp..... http://www.musicxp.net/tuning_tips.php

I waited a bit before installing 4.0 cuz my 3.1c was rock solid on my machine too. But I have to say 4.0 is as stable as 3.1c was for me.

I re-installed XP from scratch tho, I guess that might have helped, but my old XP install was still behaving perfectly (other than some pace ilok related illnesses, oops ^_^.) I ghosted my old partition just in case, but haven't looked back.

So I'd say, if 3.1c is working well on your box, 4.0 should work just as well. It's pretty much the same software with a few really minor mostly aesthetical fixes.

Thanks everyone,

Looks like I'll be okay with 3.1c ... until I win the lottery and buy my scope pro cards

I am only having a problem with Outlook Xpress. I made several tweaks that day, only one of which said to be careful to select the right option or it would severely slow down OE. Apparently I must of chosen the wrong option because the next day I opened up my email and it took at least 90 seconds to even open, more if there are messages. I just can't remember what the tweak was,or where I read about it.Thanks for your help.
