Sound Manager gone??

I suddenly miss the Sound Manager drivers in the main menu folder 'Software in/outputs'.
I'm sure I have used them before once, so this is strange, they are just gone.

I still have the old 'Pulsar3' system installed on the same partition as where SFP is, so I tried to copy/paste the 24 bit SoundManager drivers from the Software IO's folder of the Pulsar3 folder.
But uhh?, in SFP there is no such a folder anymore

Where are they located these days??

Do I really have to reinstall SFP to get these SM drivers back??
Can't believe that.
Sure, I could copy them to a main menu folder like Old Stuff or Plugins, in fact I did this already, but I like it elegant

Anybody with a nice trick?

On mac, but CW is hybrid, so a 'pc' trick could do the job as well

Hi Hubird,

Isn't it that the soundmanager drivers are known now as wave drivers??? I'm just guessing because at work I've got no SFP

You're right, they make the system unstable a bit.
But I once used SM driver to record a downsreaming planetz music file in Cubase, real time!
And sometimes I use it for monitoring some software through Pulsar which normaly is played through SM.

It should be there is an argument too?

Anyway, if you're right my problem doesn't exist, gonne check it out now, thanks!

it seems you're right Sam, but it is strange to see the numbers of channels in the controll panel 'Sound'.
If I load in SFP the 'Wave Dest', in the Sound panel you see an input number of 2 channels.
If I load the '24 Bit Wave Dest' (after deleting the 'Wave Dest'), I see 4 of them.
Is it coz the Soundmanager just can 'see' 16 bit? Does it?

EDIT:
I checked the SFP manual, it says:

Using the 24-bit drivers doubles the number of channels used on the PCI bus and requires increased storage space for the audio files

BTW a new concept of the term 'channel' i have to learn here.
However, at the same time the manual says:

IMPORTANT NOTE: On the MAC, use the driver modules designated Sound Manager source/dest in place of the Wave
source/dest modules to access the
MacOS audio system

?? isn't this weird?
The 'Sound Manager Dest/Src' don't show up in the Software IO menu anymore, but the manual says you should use them...??

Is it me who's crazy?
