I was told in a brief email from support that the SP-DIF Opt option (under external sync) is an ADAT switch. Can someone please explain this to me?

You can switch one of the ADAT i/o to optical spdif. If you want the opt. spdif to be the main clock you use that option.

To use Coax SpDif, select 'S/P-DIF', the top in the list. That's it. And of course set your Master/Slave correlation.

If you want to use optical, you'll have to choose one of both 'ADAT' or 'S/P-DIF out', left below. If you'd want optical S/P-DIF, also mark the 'S/P-DIF opt.', 2nd on top of list.

So yes it's an ADAT switch cos it lets you choose which protocol you're going to use over the fiber glass: ADAT or S/P-DIF.

The two top S/P-DIF selections will be the S/P-DIF switches then. But the ADAT switch needs to be set to S/P-DIF out if you want to use S/P-DIF opt.
