PCI card not recognized

Post by hector9 »

Hello, I have a few computers that have been turned off for a while due to personal reasons. After a while, I turned on the computer again and there were some cards that were not recognized even though everything was running fine before.

How should I clean the cards so they can be recognized well? Thank.

I would remove all cards and other components, cleaning, i'm also using air compressor and back, card by card into slots.
For cleaning not sure, maybe "dry cleaner for electrical contacts" or similar. Didn't have to use it so far, just air compressor.
Best luck.

I always use pure alcohol (or 98%) and an ear clean stick. Dip it in and clean the contacts.

Capacitors tend to suffer the most when devices are powered off for for a long time

You should take a look in device manager. Are there devices listet with "!" or similar symbols ?
Sometimes it's just a driver issue.

To my experience, scope cards appear in device manager, even if they have capacitor problems.
