Hooray! What wonderful news. Congrats Holger on keeping the greatest DSP platform ever developed a current and relevant product.
I know it was a lot of blood sweat and tears to make this happen and it is much appreciated.
Gary is sure going to be busy :)

I´ll possibly reserve my Lenovo W541 workstation laptop w/ expresscard slot and running Win11 Pro x64 for SCOPE v8 beta.
Intel i7 2.8GHz MQ and 16GB of RAM w/ 2 SSDs should be enough horsepower, isn´t it?

:)

Bud
Quite tempted here to fire up the V8 on my Lenovo P50 with expresscard. Looking forward to hear about any of your observations, once you pull the trigger.

@ Sonic Core: Maybe a longshot, but I hope that V8 can improve what seems to be expresscard bandwidth limitations. E.g. I can get only one stable Mattomat loaded on my laptop, but several Mattomats on my stationary PC.
i don't think it's a bandwidth problem. likely, it is a memory allocation problem(lappy architecture), or a timining issue(lappy architecture again). Mattomat really relies on several system resources, rather than simply raw bandwidth. some laptops may perform better than others...

Did I get this right ?
After the offer ends, all Xite-1 users can download the beta and get involved ?
(I own two Xites (operational and spare), and can't buy an other one, as my wife would probably kill me :) )

Then don't tell her. Wife's don't recognise one different unit in a stocked rack, just hide it in the garage till she goes out shopping.

Scope v7 x64 already runs on my (other) Lenovo W540 running Win10Pro.
So, I´d expect it running on a P50 too.

You say there´s a hardware related bandwidth difference when comparing the expresscard34 and the PCIe x1 card for XITE-1 ?

I don´t use Mattomat, but I can imagine the bandwith limitation you recognize is possibly mainboard related,- laptop vs your desktop PC.

AFAIK, both the currently sold expresscard34 and PCIe card for XITE-1 are PCIe 2.0 standard and x1 (1 PCI lane) bandwidth.
I guess, the older PCIe card (w/ DVI connector) was PCIe 1.1 standard.

I hope this is true ... Holger ???

:)

Bud
Yes, Scope 7 runs on my P50.
I can load 1 Mattomat and it works fine. But when I try to load 1 more, things start to happen. Some times I get the 'Your device ran into a problem' message + autonatic system restart. But mostly I get the PCI capacity limit message (see screenshot 1)
I just did a quick test, hooking up my Xite-1 to my desktop PC and managed to load 7 Mattomats without any problems. When adding the eighth Mattomat, I get the DSP capacity limit message (see screenshot 2)

That's all I'm saying.

Thanks to the replies from you and Gary, I now understand that the issue is unlikely to be related to my Scope 7 + Expresscard connection, but more likely related to my laptop.

Hi, been ages since I posted here.
This is great to see guys again!

I haven't used my PCI cards since "the great HD death" of Sept 2017. The secondary drive on my old desktop, with all my Ableton projects, sample libs, etc etc, crashed out, and I had no decent backup, altho I had bounced out a decent amount of early mixes and saved those off.
But that meant that I (had to) migrate to an ex-work 2013 laptop, running plugins and some hardware devices. Decent machine. Been my 'music machine' since. Still going strong. With a decent backup solution!

But I got an ex-work desktop machine recently, discovered in a corner of a corner of the old office. Has two PCI slots. Pretty much the same model that my PCI cards used to run under.

Scope 5.1 user, I have my Scope directory zipped from the now-defunct machine. Pretty sure it's got all my Scope keys.

I will set this old PCI system up again, with the new-found Dell T3600! First task is to ensure that the PCI cards are still functional - a 15-DSP and a 6-DSP. And then, I intend to check the scene with all the Scope releases since I dropped away.... Even those releases fabled for "coming soon" :P

Cheers, Eanna
