Cubase Dongle problem

Post by gustav »

Hello,
It's been a long time I posted here on this nice Forum :) a lot of names that remind me things - hope you're doing well
My Xite is still working and today I need some help if possible to resolve a reinstallation problem
If some of you use(d) cubase with its dongle
My PC dedicated to music has not changed very much since a long time but now its time to reorganise it :
I installed a new OS (still windows 7) on empty partition of the same PC
I bought scope 7 and installed it - and then I installed Cubase 6.5
But I get this error message when running cubase : "No valid licence. The program will be closed" (translated from french)
The Dongle contains a valid cubase 6 licence so I don't understand
The device seems to be installed as it should
Its a longtime ago all this installation stuff, perhaps some of you have any ideas ?

That's one reason, why I quit cubase :)
But from my old days I remember, that the dongle had its own piece of software to be installed.
Do you have evidence, that the dongle (and its drivers) is installed completely ?

Thanks for your answer but I solved the problem
As I said all this install stuff was far away in my mind
I initially baught cubase 3, updated to 6
and when I made my new installation I thought that it would be good to take the last subversion of the version 6 - so I took the 6.5
I tried with 6.07 and now its working
Now I will get into the scope devices to see if I have all what i need

It should be possible installing 6.5. (or higher).
Sopme time ago, Steinberg quit support of eLicencer and related software, deciding for a new licencing system w/o dongle.
I´d contact their support and/or try to find more info on their website.
Unfortunately I cannot help more,- I jumped from Cubase SX3 to Studio One Pro when I was unable to upgrade anymore "because I waited for too long".

:)
