service manuals for creamware cards and Xite ?

Post by nebelfuerst »

One of my 15 DSP cards shows communication errors, when connected to an other 15 DSP card.
The card runs flawless on its own.
My visual inspection didn't show any damage, so I like to measure signals now.
So I need some schematics, which are typically to be found in service manuals.

Is there a source where to buy a schematic / service manual for pci cards ?

Is there a service manual for Xite available somewere ?

First thing I would do is check the STDM cables connecting the 2 cards together. Try reseating them a couple of times, and see if that helps.

Surely, if it needs repairing. You would get SC to perform the repair. They built it.

As Xite-owner I hope there's a long future for SC. Nevertheless repairing creamware cards is a situation, where a service manual would be nice.
( I have service manuals for many of my synths of Kawai/Roland/Korg, so it's not an uncommon question. )

For the card in question:
Someone tried soldering on it before. I bought it together with an A16ultra. Unfortunately, due to bad packaging the A16 had hard collisions with the card during transportation. I just want to rescue this card, it's just a hobby project for a scope addict :)

I have tons of service manuals for my gear and a small repair shop in my basement,- but I didn´t get the SMs from manufacturers.
I´ve found all in the web and for my Kurzweil PC361, I luckily got it from "someone" in the US.
Endusers usually don´t get service- notes, -instructions or complete -manuals from manufacturers or authorized service.

Who says S|C owns Creamware PCI card servicemanuals ?
Did these exist at all ?

You can carefully remove ICs and caps from cards, then replace in the hope it´ll work.
Exchange of the DSP chips is a different challenge, possibly requireing special tools.

Try to repair the digital mainboard in an AKAI sampler.
Up to now and even owning service manuals and some better tools,- I never had luck with that.
I cannot imagine, AKAI service repaired these boards at all.

Amateurish soldering on such card might have destroyed temperature sensitve components already or performed other damage.

According to mechanical damage caused by transport, you might have luck searching for broken pins/legs and/or interupted lanes.
I guess the cards are multilayer layout,- so it might be impossible recognizing and repairing everything.
Creamware might have exchanged broken cards in the past, if any.
We all know how reliable these are, so it might have been a rare case anyway.
