There's only way to find out: test it and look at the dsp meter, which I did.
Its Labour day, isn't it? :)

I measured dsp load of STM 2448 vs. CWmix, both connected and unconnected.
It's an apples/bananas comparison though as STM cannot deactivate channels, and CWMix cannot deactivate connections, and the architecture of both is different (Busses, Aux, EQs).
But what you can see is that STM is clearly more efficient than CWMix. (I don't like it regardless because it's too unclear for me.)

Thanks Roy, i gave up with connection check by now. I think I dont want devices loading or unloading the dsp at music time.

I also prefer STM mixers becoause of optimized load. I have used patchbays because i like them but now i prefer build dedicated routings in Modular or Project to save dsp. The only patchbay i have needed is the MS20 one since i have a hardware midi patchbay i wanted to use, the korg ms20ic. As is unfinished you can see first 5 connections cabled only.

I believe this is the most optimal design for a Modular 16x16 midi controlled patchbay.

Hi There,
I have redesigned the Patchbay plugin.
It uses a lot less DSP now and it is possible to switch off sections (1-8, 9-16, 17-24) if they are not needed saving more DSP.
I have also added stereo gang switching, Mute All and a VU I/O metering panel.
Regards

thx for v2!
optimierungen sind immer herzlich willkommen :P

i love also your iRout, but have SAT probs here on XITE, on verry low DSP...
find that regrettable, the performance indicator says YES, but reality shakes my legs

Thanks Spielruam
I wish I was better at optimization, that seems to be an art in itself.
Maybe you might want to try another Router I don't think I released before?
Its an 8x8 Audio Router.
You can switch in pan controls to make 4 stereo panable outputs.
You can also lock input channels into stereo pairs if you wish.
Hope it useful to you
