buying a card with 5.0 license but need 4.0!

hello,

maybe you know about this issue...Im about to buy a card which has 5.0 keys, but I would need to run it with 4.0 keys, because my main machine also has 4.0 keys, and I cant upgrade there right now, btw all my old projects would not be loadable again if I did the upgrade, I guess, but Im not sure on that, anyway, not gonna buy the upgrade soon, rather I´d be interested to know if its possible to ask for a 4.0key if one has the 5.0 keys...

two things, just fyi...

first off, you don't need ANY keys to use the card with another card that has keys. you just won't get any extra devices that you might not have on the original card, that might be on the new card.

second, if that new card has 5.0 keys and the same plugins as the old card, you can run 5.0 without losing anything, anytime you want, without spending another dime. the old card could always be upgraded later, if it had keys to something you wanted to use, but wasn't on the new card.

nah i have 2 separate machines, in one is a 4.5 scope pro and the new would gonna be a scope home with 5.0 keys, I fear that there wont be any compatibility of the projects, cause I wanna start projects at home and then go to the studio and open it there..

tomylee, have you tried an email to S|C? Or, if you bought the second hand, maybe the previous owner has the old keys somewhere? If not, S|C would be your final shot at getting the older keys...

also, the 14dsp card has a free upgrade to v5 since it has v4.5....
