Basic Recording Compressor Settings

Hello,
can you recommend me some good link to basic
recording settings for compressor (attack, realese ...). I need little compress my bass and vocal during recording (through line in), but I´m afraid of overcompressing or bad compressing at this part.

hmmm...I´m afraid there ´re no standards for compressing. I guess that´s because all audio takes are in need of individual compressing to get the most out of them. However, you should simply test around here and use your ears and the meters for analysis.
