Sound Quest Infinity.. a mysterious piece of software

Post by kensuguro »

I just ran into Sound Quest's website for their modular system "Infinity". It seems very capable, looks ugly as hell, and is very unknown. I really like underdog software like this. Has anyone ever heard of them? Or seen it in action? Or used it?

From what I can see, this thing is technically very well executed. I just wonder if it translates to good use. Too bad it doesn't "compile" out vsti. It can be distributed, but needs a runtime to be installed.

There's a review (from 2002) here:

I remember reading about it at the time and thinking it looked interesting, but never looking any further.

"As you might expect, Infinity v2 is a large installation -- the program files are 45Mb in size"

I have a severe love/hate relationship with their MidiQuest.

Screenshots in that SoS article remind me of Cubase VST on Win98.

It has no 'urban' appeal. :P
